Anyone have any of the influencing runes that boost your influence damage? I'm curious as to how effective they are. I'm semi-tempted to get one.

Yeah, me too.

I went ahead and bought the empower rune. I've not tested it out extensively yet but so far I'm not entirely thrilled. It does in fact lessen how many times you need to use influence attacks on denizens.

Testing on a wild fae nymph went like this: without the rune it took seven attacks alternating each time between compliments and admiration. With the rune it took six attacks alternating each time between compliments and admiration. That's been the case with almost every other denizen I've used it on too.

Once though when I was using it on a frost hag it took three less attacks than typical to win. If the rune was like that all the time I'd be pretty darn happy.

Give it to someone with Trans Influence to test. That will tell you whether or not its any good. If it lowers the attacks needed by even one, I'd say its pretty good, since nothing else manages to do that.

I have trans influence, and a charity rune.

Influencing the astrologers normally takes me eight hits cycling through all attacks and starting with the most powerful. With the rune, it takes me seven hits.

Nice, but I was hoping for something a little more. I don't have the dramatics attitude that boosts charity attacks yet, but I'm assuming it is less than the effect of a rune.

I dunno.. with charity, I'd pay 100 credits for 1 less attack. It means sipping a little less, and earning gold a little quicker. It'd pay for itself eventually.
Anarias2006-10-03 01:01:53
I could see paying 50 credits each for empower and weaken. I see your point with charity though.
Unknown2006-10-03 01:03:14
Probably for paranoia too. There's no real need to be super quick with that, since you'll never have to go through a huge ammount of denizens with it.
Unknown2006-10-03 03:19:10
Considering that prestiege and dramatics have almost no discernable affect on influence, that's a pretty substantial boost. Who knows, maybe with royalty, the appropriate dramatics skill, and an influence rune, you might be able to get two less attacks! *swoon*
Anarias2006-10-03 03:25:27
I was using the dramatics skill and have tried with royalty tongue.gif It alters nothing.
Vix2006-10-03 03:31:37
Really? Noticed a change in charity with various levels of clothing for Tosha.

I've tested it out, the dramatics abilities do work, but it's not always noticeable against npc's that are so much weaker then you (if your trans influencing you have to go find the hardest things out there to notice a difference)

In your example with the rune the hag was most likely much stronger then the random fae, thus you noticed the change to a bigger degree.

It happened once out of 12 hags.

That's weird, you mean the rune works randomly stronger and weaker at times?
Anarias2006-10-03 05:48:23
Not sure what that was really. Still need to test it adequately.

Influence is randomly stronger and weaker, and I'm not sure how many of the factors are random. I would imagine that's why the runes don't explicitly state how much they add to your power. It's probably because, in the grand scheme of things, even the designer doesn't really know. tongue.gif
