The season premier of Battlestar Galatica was today - I was wondering if there are any BSG fans here.
My sci-fi club managed to reserve a huge lecture hall and the rights/permissions to show it there. It was truly awesome.

That's not a spoiler, you learn that in the pilot

The premiere in Canada's tomorrow night. My roommates and I got cable specifically to watch BSG. *cough*
I have no idea how they're going to get the characters out of the mess they were in at the end of season 2, but I sure am looking forward to it.

That was the pilot? I thought it was a miniseries

The pilot was four hours long and shown on four seperate days, so it was essentially a miniseries. The actual series just started its third season now, and it's BRILLIANT.

Ahhh, that's bad news. We just started watching this summer, and we couldn't stop. My roommate watched season 1 in one day, going all night until 6:30 am. I watched season 2.5 in one day... I don't know how we're going to handle cliffhangers, once-a-week episodes and commercial breaks. There may be property damage...

Yeah, and the cliffhangers will be CRUEL if the premier is any indication

Commercials can be awesome though. At two absurdly appropriate times during the premier here, the screen faded out and an announcer said, "Brought to you by Quiznos! Quiznos: Mmmm, toasty!" It was hilarious

Arix2006-10-07 04:25:40
Remember that one Quizno's commercial with the weird singing monkey things? That commercial was epic

You perfer cheesy sci-fi over psychotic, depressing, existential, religious stuff? I have some friends who agree with you

Hell yes, I do.

Not that I don't liiike the new BSG. But the old one was so great for its cheese. Plus, the Pegasus storyline on the original was better, in my opinion. I liked Cain as a rugged hero, because he and Adama were such opposites on how to deal with a situation. Not that they weren't opposites in the new one, but the new Cain was more of a coward, and that was abit irksome to me as a fan of the original.

I kinda agree, but some parts of 2.5 were AWESOME. Case in point: Downloaded (third to last episode). BEST EPISODE EVER!
The first episode of season 3 was amazing, we'll have to see how good the rest are

Hiriako2006-10-22 19:00:05
BSG is one of the few shows I tend to follow. Stargates are others. Doctor Who as well. Occasionally something else here and there, but I watch so little tv...
Unknown2006-10-22 19:58:01
Season 2.5 was unfrickinbelievable. Pegasus, Resurrection Ship, Downloaded and Lay Down Your Burdens were some of the best TV I've ever seen. Sadly, season 3's been... er, slow, uneven, and a big case of character-assassination so far. I don't recognise Ellen or Dualla one bit. There's a lot of cliche emotion. It's started to pick up though, so here's hoping!

I LOVE BSG!!
I glue myself to the tv every friday night to watch it.
Does anyone know what the hell happened to Starbuck's baby that she was pregnant with last season in the finale?

Agreed, agreed. Those episodes were awesome.
I really wonder what twists Season 3 will have.

Starbuck wasn't pregnent, that was Callie.
I am curious with the end of the rescue mission what will happen between Tigh and Adama...
