Lately it would seem that there's a general will to give the players the oppertunity to shape their game experience by sharing their opinions with the divine. I think that it's a great idea. However, these solutions are heavily ooc and result in people getting too ooc involved in things they shouldn't.
Consider it like a pen&paper RPG where the players -tell- the GM what they want to happen in the session.
The leaders of the cities/communes are players just as anyone else... I think it ruins the surprise and fun in new changes because they already know what is going to happen more or less.
The case in Glomdoring was extreme so I truly understand the reasoning... but Nil/Celestia... I don't think that this calls for the same measures.
Therefore I tried to think of something, and I actualy did. I am not sure if this can actualy be done but... to add another position to every guild or city, just as you have envoys for skill discussions, to have an envoy that deals with the general issues of guilds and cities... be it that the Geomancers want to learn more of the Earth Lords... BT's want more interaction with Crow and so on and so forth. It will be their duty to convey all the ideas and opinions and present these to the divine. That way, there will be a minimal ooc intervension and everyone will be heard.
Just a thought, maybe it's a good one, maybe it ain't... I was never an envoy, perhaps things work differently and this idea cannot be implemented... I honestly don't know.
I think it's worth some consideration, even if my salution is unacceptable.

It's a great idea, and something I've always wanted.

Its a great idea... and when I was GM I was told, thats what my main job was...
Its one of those secrets GMS have to deal with

then they are not doing a very good job at it.

Isn't this what the plots board is for? If your guild would like something to do with say, the earth lords, write up a possible event and post it on there

You know, I didn't even think of it that way. I always thought of it as "I have a new idea for an even you should do" and not "we'd like to do some extra RP with xyz". Hmm.

Well, the thread can be used in such a way. It is a fact however that up to this point, things remained the same nonetheless. Also, making an idea public gurentees that no one will use that idea- because everyone will know what's about to happen.
I think my idea's merit is that it keeps a minimal involvement and publicity- ensuring that not everyone and their friends will know about it and will actualy be surprised when something occures.
