Ok, so I'm back. Let's cut to the chase.
I'm not a combatant, never was. Don't have a system; even if I did, I'd still suck horribly at it.
The idea that drew me to Lusternia was RP. I had never played a text-based web-game before, and found the concept brilliant and superb for RP. Which I love. I moderately tried to RP before, but it all went rather pathetic or resumed to fending off raids or bashing or just... getting bored because the level or random RP was too low at the Pool of Stars.
So, now I'm back. (deja entendu)
Basically I want to concentrate on RPing, and I need advice for what exactly would be good RP skills (in-game skills) for a Celestine gone bonkers. I was thinking of dropping enchantment (I'm Fabled) and put some more lessons in Healing (I'm Gifted), maybe even transing it (if I can get there). What about common skills? Is dramatics worth it? Influence? What are the skills best suited for RP in Lusternia? (without leaving the Celestines, no matter how fun bards sound like ahem)

Celestine? RP? Go with Astrology. Read the stars, be a fortune telling sage. That's what I did with Tekora a while before I got bored of it.

Dramatics
Aethercrafting
Arts
Influence (Just Adept in it will allow you to earn a bit of gold and experience)
A tradeskill.

I'm 48 in-game years old, level 71 and a former Admin of the Celestines... I don't want gold or experience.

Oh, and I'm nuts. Would that work? Hmm, yeah, it could... I can see something there...

Hmm... skills for RP...
Dramatics is awesome! You can have so much RP fun with that Skill. I TRIED to have an event using it, but it didn't work out. I'm going to try something different using it soon though, and hope that works better.
Arts is a good one, I'd think. You could be a 'starving artist' and offer to make paintings of people on some street corner of the city.
If you have the gold for it, you could get a ship and become a merchant or better, a pirate with the Aethercraft skill!
Really, any skill you have can be used for RP, I would think.

No skills make you a better RPer. Some only give you (slightly) more options.
You're a Celestine, so Illusions are out. I guess Dramatics are cute if you want to RP a crossdresser (that's the main use of the skill, I swear!), I'd pass otherwise. Influence doesn't have much use outside of influence-combat. Arts, Aethercraft - good ideas. Maybe riding. Guild/trade skills - doesn't matter, pick whatever you want. But Healing gives the least options, Tarot and Astrology allow you to be a crazed seer but healing lets you... wow, cure people's afflictions.

I see your point. And that's what I meant by "RP". "Options."

Pfft... There's way more stuff than crossdressing in Dramatics.
And I can see how Healing could be used in fun crazed Healer RP. Seeing afflictions as 'demons' to be exorcised or something, yelling to them and gesturing wildly before 'laying hands' on the afflicted to cure them. Like at a tent revival or something. Fun!

Tarot and Astrology are brilliant for all kinds of things.
I don't see what your age and level have to do with the fact that you will need gold.

Well, he sounded like he considered me rather new to the game, which I'm not. Wasn't flaming or sarcastic or anything.
And yes, Healing would be interesting as well for insane (not psycho, just giggly and blanky and vague-y) with randomly coming up to people and smiling unnervingly trying to heal made up illnesses. But Astrology is an awesome alternative. (I don't know why I forgot about it )

Best RP skills I think are illusions
But thats not with the celestians. Astrology is another good option

Get to impersonate in Dramatics and you'll be able to talk to your angel and have it talk back to you. Or your angel can make the 'sane' comments to people around you, allowing you to be nuts without being completely unhelpful and confusing to some people (newbies/novices, especially) (your angel can warn them about you, or say it's concerned for you but proud of your dedication to the Light or whatnot, etc. ).

I never thought of that! I should have the Handmaiden "talk" and preach about the Light.

You should really be able to ventriloquate something you're wielding.

Every skill can contribute to a general character concept because it shapes and defines it. Try and think of the image you would like to create and choose your skills accordingly. The tips I saw so far all related to the practical use of them as utility rather then combat skills. You have emotes, customize your own toying around with them. You are basicly putting mechanics get in the way... that's how I see it, perhaps I am wrong.
Anyways, have fun.

Yay for you being back!
Just some random thoughts...
1. Try figuring your character direction first, and let that determine your skills, rather than the other way around.
2. Most higher-level skills tend to be geard toward combat. Therefore getting a broad smattering of low level skills is less expensive and may make for a more rounded interesting character.
3. Skill mechanics are nice, but emotes will help you through most ideas. Coming up with a new character 'quirk' can be a good way to define a change of direction and help 'snap' you into character.
4. Maybe you need to start a new story arc... perhaps say, an illicit love affair with some lonely divorcee from Magnagora?

*cough* You two are perfect for each other, but one thing I always did was assess what the character realistically should be able to do in terms of actions not meaningful enough to have a game effect, which can be liberally emoted.
As a mage, that meant lighting fires over my thumbs, pouring water out of my hands, and such - Not as an illusion, mind you.
As a druid, that meant sitting on tree branches that are shaped oh-so-conveniently to allow it.
As a bard, that means being able to play an instrument really well.
