So, this discussion has been going on for quite a while now, both IC and OOC, IRC and MSN, among other places, I was just curious what other people thought, and decided to make a poll.

According to those players in the know, apparently, a very large majority of those players active in Lusternia oocly seem to feel that there is virtually no reason to be anything but Human or Mugwump at really high levels, especially if one does combat, aside from RP. I can agree with this sentiment. As a Dracnari with 15 con, 16 on a good day, I am decently tanky, but a higher level human is far far tankier than me, thanks to no weaknesses, and no sip penalty, not to mention +20% exp gain. Would I rather have the same stats and weaknesses and sip penalty, or the same stats (the ones that matter for my class, obviously due to human stat gain, con and int) with bonus experience, no weaknesses (though no bonus defences either, but ingame buffs pretty much cover that) and no sip penalty?

So what do you all think? Is it about time for another look at the races? What would you all like to see done, or what are your suggestions? Who needs buffs and who needs a good solid nerfing? LEt the games begin, I want a good clean fght! DING DING!

Dracnari sip penalty makes it a crap race. Reduce to L1, same with viscanti.

Reduce mugwump eq to L2, reduce penalties to L2.

Give humans +100 str.

Yea I would love to see a lv1 sip penalty!!

The mugwump idea seems fairly fair, but I am not one to judge...

Estarra disagrees, but I think the biggest adjustment needs to happen with human evolution.

I have a cameo and I've been a mugwump once. I found it quite disheartening. It would be nice against a tae'dae, maybe. Maybe. It's just not the druidic race of choice. Even unspecialized merian treated me better. Those weaknesses are killers.

Then you have the really, really, really bad races. Tae'dae PvP is frustrating. No one dies. Dwarves went from uber to very, very meh. Those could use some reformulating on a small scale.

Anyway, the races subject has been beaten to death a couple hundred times with a few dozen barbed wire clubs. It has since then Prayed for Salvation and been decapitated by Ixion's 112 strength human at level 50.

It will be a pretty long thread, I imagine.

My suggestions are:
Give drawves str 14
No sip penalties above level 1
Give tae'dae's bearhug the added ability of keeping people in a room longer.. or something. (maybe just merge Igasho and tae'dae races)
Turn trill into something other than basic humans with wings.

And as a Mugwump, I am almost tankier than being I am as a Dracnari, thanks to the no sip and speed bonus...

I just noticed that coices 1 and 4 are the same...virtually, don't think I could get those merged right?

And honestly, there are so few dwarves in the game...I can't recall ever seeing a dwarf except when Narsrim and I think Teuk were a logn time ago...

I don't think there will ever be a perfect balance of races. I'd like to see a system where every race gets evolution that goes beyond stats alone, so you can choose a race of preference and customize it to your liking. But it won't happen, so whatever.

Most humans aren't level 95. Most hover right around level 80, where they're a race with slightly above average stats, but absolutely no racial advantages. If I understand her post correctly, that's the baseline she's using for balancing them.

What nerf is this?

Honestly, I don't know enough about the races to really say. I know I've thought about changing races, though Lucidian is decent. It was just nicr when I was a moondancer with tons of ents.

I think, read think people, he's talking about the stat change at... was it 95(90)? for Warriors. Instead of Strength they get Charisma.

That is a big nerf since humans have nothing else but exp.... If they keep touching humans they really need to fix other races big time. There isnt a decent race for Magnagoran warriors period right now...

Viscanti sucks... sip penalty is horrible makes the whole race suck... and they are never in tainted ground unless with a geo... so who cares about that regen... its not something that can be found in a natural environment, like the others meh.gif

Please, PLEASE do some fixing for Orclachs. Yes, we have good strength, con, and resistances. But we get absolutely destroyed for Intellect. I can understand that Orclach aren't meant to be a magic-proficient race. Fine. But an Orclach with surge on and Lichform during the day? 7 Intellect: and at Level 80, that's less than 2000 mana. Total. 2 leechings can destroy me: and if I turn off surge, I lose more than 1800 possible health, even with Int 7. This is a pretty bad loss compared to many other races: it makes an already highly restricted class (no one sane will use Orclach as a magical or influencing race) painfully inadequate.
