I wonder how many non-British people knew about this before "V for Vendetta" came out. I'm one for sure. And I didn't even watch V for Vendetta.

We celebrate it downhere for some strange reason. I've known about it forever.

Hooray for the Desperate Housewives game! I totally want that.

I knew about Guy Fawkes. I love history though. *grin*

I went out with the rest of the family to a public fireworks display earlier, which is about all Guy Fawkes is synonymous with here.

I marginally knew about it before seeing the movie, but had no idea who Guy Fawkes was, and what his role in history was.

All I knew is that some people burnt bonfires on the fifth of November. Yay Return of the Native!

I just saw V for Vendetta in my school's theatre. There were people in Guy Fawkes masks there, some homemade - it was quite awesome.

The movie was even more amazing the second time

I don't get it... does the holiday celebrate the attempted murder or celebrate the failure of the attempted murder?

I thought it was supposed to celebrate the attempted overthrow of what was perceived as a tyranical regime.

But I'm just an American.
