Manual Combat

Ever since I first decided to spar someone on Lusternia, and Achaea, I have been a manual combatant. A stand trigger, insomnia trigger, and a wear pack trigger. Any other triggers were echos or subs.

I feel competent enough as a fighter- but is it possible to keep up with people one on one, manually? Everything I do will be done hitting a macro, or typing in an abbreviated alias.

I know how to cure druidic demesnes, for the most part. Clueless on some of the Aquamancer stuff- except that keeping Fire up is a must. Geomancers seem just to be a lot of damage, stunning, and need levitation and Orange.

I know what to cure first- Aeon, sap, ectoplasm, paralysis, stupidity, impatience, that sort of thing.

My only problem I have is with Guardians and that whole 'cloaked affliction' thing. Especially Fool tarot! explode.gif

When, and ever, I learn to color things, I guess that'd help a bunch, too. But when comparing this combat to Achaea's, its a lot more in depth over here.

Any comments, suggestions, whatever, all appreciated!

You'll want triggers for some things, but yes, it's quite possible to fight mostly manually. The class that will give you the most trouble, really, is wiccans because of the sheer number of afflictions they can dish out.

Guardians aren't that hard to deal with, most of the angel/demon messages are only ever one or two different things, and fool tarot is only ever hangedman, aeon, or lust.

Yeah, you can really just assume all angel/demon afflicts are the worst one of the set. Once you get hit by fool, immediately try to enemy the person, stand, and sip quicksilver - that should catch what it actually was.

I personally could never use a system that manual, because I can't read fast enough. Even with giant echos of doom.

I am uncertain how you can deal with deepwounds effectively with a system that manual though...

I like untargetted apply health for that.

Wait, that works? What does it cure, something random?
Shamarah2006-11-05 19:22:40
The most damaged body part, I think. That or it cures them in some sort of order. I can't remember, but I know it's not random.

Apply health cures the most damaged body part, it's also useful to see which body part is the most damaged if you're unsure. It's a pretty nifty trick.

Gah, I never knew that.... now how do I work that into my system... wacko.gif

Well, the first application will cure the most damaged body part, but it will then continue to cure that place until it is zero. Atleast, that's what I've found. It may reset when you sustain more wounds.

Back when I played Achaea up until a few months after playing Lusternia I never used triggers. I didn't know what they were. I had a MASSIVE set of Aliases. that I used to do everything. I was an ok fighter in Achaea and Imperian using that.

Now with triggers I'm not so good. I think I have come to rely on them too much that I panic when they missfire and forget everything.

So basically what I'm saying is I think it is possible to be an ok fighter if you can catch ever little nuance in fighting. Sometimes into those melees it might be impossible to see what you're getting hit with.
