Is it worth it to get max speed rapiers for a faeling?

No. Because speed tops at a certain level, and you can't get any faster. I do NOT know the exact level at which it reaches that barrier, but for a faeling it's way below 280 speed.
However, as I've written hundreds of times by now, damage (as a weapon stat!) doesn't matter much in bashing. So just go for rapiers anyway. Because - let me be frank, as a non-specced Faeling you'll suck in PvP no matter what weapons you use anyway.

Hm, what about PvE? Or is it worth just reincarnating? Any races good for both fighting & influencing?
Unknown2006-11-12 22:58:20
PvE is easy enough, any race can do it. During the monstrosity event (these things make manifestations look like Newton Gnomes!), I bashed them as a faeling. Unspecced.
Good races both for influencing and PvP are: Aslaran, Merian Lord and (maybe) high-level Human. Don't take Tae'dae - stats look good, but it's a trap! Level 3 balance/eq penalty = deathwish.

Go to Glom?
Gandal2006-11-12 23:04:12
Hm, how bad is the Aslaran sip penalty?
Isn't Merian Lord 11 cha?
How good are human stats by, say, 65?
I'm thinking of going to Glomdoring, actually, but I want a Laetitia equivalent...maybe I should...
EDIT: This isn't Gandal, by the way. Gandal is staying put in the Aquamancers.

I hunt fairly well as a Faeling Blademaster, with yes, maxed speed rapiers. Very fast, lots of criticals. I think you'd need precision scimitars to fight as a faeling, trying to get damage in by wounds.
Unknown2006-11-12 23:19:43
Yeah... merians are 11 charisma only. So scratch that.
However, most races can be good in influencing for Paladins, thanks to sheer number of charisma buffs they can get. Beauty blessing, Netzach, Populus = 4 weight. That's +3 cha. +4 if you have a throne.
Human stats at 65? Rather weak, actually.
Aslarans have a level 1 penalty. That's 10% less per sip. A disadvantage, but not a huge one.
More on Faeling: crits aren't dependant on stats, only on level. An Aslaran with 280 speed rapiers would be as fast as a faeling with the same weapons, because of the speed cap I mentioned in the last post. He'd also kill things in less blows, because Strength matters in PvE damage (only the damage STAT of the weapon doesn't - or rather matters too little to make a difference).
Even high precision weapons suck for faelings PvP, because Deep Wounds ARE dependant on strength (yes, I know it says on Dexterity too, but people who think that advantage is significant need to Get a Clue). I tested it with Narsrim about 3/4 of a year ago - with high-precision weapons as a Faeling (with every STR buff possible for a Serenguard, and that was before stat weights made buffs weaker!) I did 200 deep wounds per strike. A total of 400 per combo. Typical application of health potion removes 800-900 deep wounds.

So, I guess Aslaran? What are the stats?
EDIT: Actually, I'll buy max speed rapiers and try bashing first.
I bought a 272 speed and 276 speed rapier, probably at speed cap...intense. But I need a race with higher strength.

Guys, tae'dae aren't all that bad.
You just need 280-speed rapiers, trans Forging, and Drawdown/Nightkiss.

Kharaen2006-11-13 01:47:09
Hrm, maybe I should reincarnate into Loboshi then if Faelings are that bad...
Gandal2006-11-13 01:56:37
Hrm, okay, I think I'll go Aslaran It took WAY too long to kill a rockeater as a faeling *mutter*

Shamarah2006-11-13 02:51:56
There's not really any reason to be faeling except for RP or if you're an Ebonguard.
Ildaudid2006-11-13 03:03:15
Just save up for a changeling cameo, then pick at your lesiure, human before 65 isnt too great, evolution doesnt really get nice until 80+.
Gandal2006-11-13 03:17:27
Reincarnated to aslaran. Sip penalty is meh, but fine. How do warriors deal with so much spam? I'm lvl 63 and it took me, um, much longer than the 3 staffs as an aqua imperial merian (2 with int blessing ) but that's probably just the insane int. Anyway, like the balance bonus, still
Gandal2006-12-06 02:01:00
Necroed, this is now bashing as an aslaran paladin for me. Ugh. Level 63 and having trouble. Slow bashing, and even though my 3009 health is comparable to 3300 health for Gandal with staff, Keldor just gets seriously damaged. I have to freaking shield with rockeaters or sip a lot. Help?

Well im faeling im not in Ebonguards and im not good RPlayer.
Im faeling for its tankiness, good nit, nice charisma and FLY!!! Not to mention about faster herb balance, better sipping and level 3 balance recovery. As Aqua i dont have many skills that use balance, but still there is some.

See, thats when i miss topic like that. I would told you to go Loboshigaru. At level 31 my loboshi have same health as you do now. level 3 regen is 8% + 5% from mercy, if you could get regeneration with boosting that would be around 15%-20% regen every tick add sipping and sparkles or even healing scroll.
And you have troubles cose your str is crappy and you need a lot of hits to kill so you get hurt in that time.
So only thikn you could do is: get some blessings, war or life; get better armour + cloak and coat with proofings. Fire is the must. Also sip fire and frost poison.
Get Geburah in Highmagic for +1 str, or go for +2 str from Strength in Athletics.
Surge would be nice for you too.

You are either using bad weapons (get speed ones - Aslarans don't reach the cap that easily as faelings do), or you have to work on your reflex. Not the IC term for triggers, but OOC reflex - "swing rockeater" as soon as you get the balance back. And, what armour are you using? If you have a fieldplate, or even... well, anything better than leather, I do not see what the problem can be. Aslarans have low STR, but Faeling (unspecced!) are even worse both STR and CON-wise, and I (yes, I and I again) had no trouble with even way more difficult creatures as a Faeling warrior. I do not suggest duplicating that experience though, faeling warriors suck bigtime.
Gandal2006-12-07 01:09:09
I have an 87/72 plate with 105 armour status (whatever that is). 52/126/276 and 66/112/272 rapiers. Apprentice Athletics, Master Knighthood, Adept 25% Rituals, and Lowmagic (for herbs, but might change tradeskill if highmagic would give me a significant edge, trying to get a shop ). How far up is Strength? What about Surge?
