I'm looing for a guild that is has above average combat skills. I'm willing to RP any city or commune aside from Magnagora. Any suggestions on a good guild/race combo?

Thanks.

Above average? Heh, nice try. You'll have to decide that for yourself. Generally they're all about equal though some have their own opinions. A good race would be the city/commune's specialized race (unless bard), Mugwump for spellcasters, all of those warrior races, and not sure on bard.

Shadowlord faeling blacktalon (warrior) with max speed rapiers blademaster. Very fast, maybe too fast? Not a huge investment, maybe 2 trans skills and some of the basics.

Loboshigaru/Taurian Celestine with Tarot. Very tanky, especially with numen and trueheal, very bad bashing skill until you get a symbol.

Merian Aquamancer with Telekinesis tertiary. Very strong attacks (staff, hailstorm), and bubble+cromatine daggers.

I guess I should clarify. I don't know a lot about the skills here yet. What I meant by above average is, skills that are basically built to be more combat focused. I thought that some were more focused on healing, support, etc. Unless I am mistaken?

One, Blacktalon aren't warriors. tongue.gif

Two, there's a group of people in the game called "envoys." We exist to make sure that guilds are more or less balanced in terms of combat application. It's a little contrary to the nature of the game to ask which guilds are "above average." None should/will stay that way.

Missed your post, sorry!

There are skill choices that make a character more support oriented. There are no guild choices that are support oriented. Someone who chooses healing or astrology will be less combat oriented than one who chooses tarot or hexes, for example.

The OP was looking for advice, I gave some options that I think do very well in combat. And I didn't know who the warriors were in Glomdoring when I posted. Sorry. sad.gif I should have said Ebonguard.

Ooo, now I get it. You have to overlook me. The skills here work a little differently than those I'm used to elsewhere. In my last game, there are classes that are simply more focused on combat. Of course, there weren't really skill choices aside from choosing a class. Thanks to everyone for the help!

All are equally aggressive, in that sense, then. Just keep in mind that if your defense is uber, that can help you win a lot more fights than just a good offense. Aquamancy is seen as generally stronger than Geomancy even though it is less offensive. An aqua's defenses (health regen, random affliction curing with Sweetfount, Liquidform curing all afflictions, giving back a lot of health and mana, engulfing others to heal them) are very good, though things like geo's fumes (give hunger, go down each hit sick.gif) are stronger than what Aquamancers have (generally, at least it's meant to).

And, Celest seems 'defensive' at first, then you think of their skills, and wacko.gif

don't flame me...please...

Some skill choices are definitely better for fighting than others. There can be no arguing that the following skillchoices are superior offensively to the other options:

-tarot over healing/astrology/hexes for guardians
-hexes over healing/astrology for wiccans
-psionics over runes/dreamweaving for mages

Druids are the exception to this - they can do well with any of their three tertiary skills.

And warriors have a variety of specializations that affect their fighting style.
