ok, i'm looking for some input on what a skills pureblade, crow specialization Ebonguard should consider getting if they want to get involved in serious combat. I think I have everything figured out and credits are an issue(I won't be getting much) so I just was wondering if I could get some suggestions and/or constructive critisizism.

this is what I have:

ok, so all I really know about is to trans pureblade then maybe athletics...the 'none' means that I have no plans to learn any of that and the ? means I don't have enough knowledge about that skill to make a informed decision. So input is very much needed and appreciated.

As any guild all you really need is tri trans guild skills, trans discipline, trans planar(conglut FTW) and a decent level of combat. But, if you want things to be easier you should probably get tumble, trans resil, trans combat and some low magic doesn't hurt.

Trans Planar = REALLY helpful to reduce effects of dying, but you don't need it to be a fighter. You'll just lose a lot more xp if you die off-plane. Astral in this skill is good to have as a rank one way or another.

Combat = good against other warriors. You already have Weaponparry in Knighthood so you don't need parry in this skill, but stances still help - parry is better though.

Discipline = trans is not needed. Fabled, however, is. Focus Mind is very good (even with locks not being possible), and lowering focus time is a must-have.

Lowmagic: yellow gives you more con (but costs 3 power), summer removes all bonds, webs etc - useful if your size is big, if you're a Faeling, not so much. Green is good to remove softlocks and hardlocks if you don't have anything else. Low priority.

Influence: I know you don't want anything, but Capable gives you Analyze. Which is of great help in village influencing. Think about it.

Guild skills:
Knighthood+specialisation: Trans. No arguing.

Athletics: Trans NOT needed. The trans skill (puissance?) is absolutely worthless. Surge is good for PvE, and when you fight people who deal heavy damage. It's suicide if you want to fight people who drain mana, either by direct skills (guardians and wiccans mainly) or by forcing you to focus body (psionics). Immunity is VERY good vs. poison-dealers, other than that you'd REALLY like to have Strength, which is at Expert.

Crow: Dunno. Never had this skill. But it doesn't look like a must-have for warriors, I rarely saw Ebonguard use it. Face paints are a help though, so I think you'd like to have them all and DarkRebirth, too. Still, low priority.

Tumble in environment is an absolute necessity (esp. against guardians). It's at like expert 50%, I think.
Unknown2006-11-18 16:00:53
I never had Tumble and I did quite decently I think. Remember that Totem users have *EDIT* Horse - I'm aware it works in a different way, but it's still a way to escape.
Ildaudid2006-11-18 17:09:53
I would say

Trans Crow/Night
Trans PB
Trans Planar
50% Mythical in Athletics (for surge, especially as a faeling)
Get to Focus Mind in Discipline
Tumble in environment, but since you fly you may just be able to fly up and out for now or use leap
you NEED green in Low magic to cure slit locks at the moment, but transing it and getting serpent is nice.

Make sure you get gust enchants, web enchants, levitate enchants, and of course kingdom, mercy, perfection and beauty enchants. A scry enchant helps too.

If you need enchantments, see a Magnagoran mage/cosmic... save up gold, and I will see if my wife will set you up on a deal for enchanting. That is if I haven't pissed her off in the last 24 hours smile.gif

Cuber, you need trans discipline for mages with daggers, I had just a bit below myth and still could be perma paralyzed basically. Trans planar is needed for contact and maintaining a high level while bashing, raiding ect(yes you need to have levels to fight). Tumble is really nice but not a must have, I don't have it. As I said it was tri trans as a general rule, I never had trans tarot but I myswell have considered it transed.

Note- Summer/Tipheret will not remove all bonds, they will remove only web and ropes, they will NOT remove: Shackles, Transfix, Clamped Hound, Impale, Pinleg, nor Thornlashes. If I missed any they go in the NOT list.

Doesn't remove shackles? Hrm, I was told otherwise =\\
Shryke2006-11-19 20:32:18
Note: I was wrong, it does remove shackles, time to edit! doh.gif

Note: to all system users, this has been fixed, if you want the update tell me, it's very minor and doesn't effect the curing hardly at all TBH

I wouldn't bother transing Crow, right away at least. Crowform is (STILL) useless to Ebonguard. You'll want to ~fabledish for DarkRebirth. The skills after that just aren't worth it for the most part. (Disease has some potential, but not a whole lot).

Dark rebirth, however, is amazing.
Shryke2006-11-19 21:41:25
Crowform is nice IMO, 1p crowpeck is nice to stack with mending cures (it's really fast and locks down their offense if you can stack it) even though it can be costly.
Also, I love crow spit, just for pure affliction stacking, considering it gives some nice afflictions to knock off balance/eq it can be useful, once again, on a very fast balance.

Edit: all of this isn't worth the credits for transing, but it's useful at least.

What does DarkRebith do?
from the sounds of it; it's like Achaea's soulcage or transmogrify without the added stats.

Redemption + pathfinder to nest Tonbee.

Autorevive on death at your nest if you die on Prime for 75 carrion. You lose no experience from this death. If you use it, you gain a defence that gives you a chance to afflict your attacker whenever you take damage with a an affliction from a small set. The chance of afflicting when hit increases as your health goes down.

You can thank the Serenwilde for giving this ability to you tongue.gif

I don't recommend flying for use as an escape unless you run a few rooms away before flying, as flying has a rather large balance time and its quite easy to get hexagramed or geysered down.

Heh, nah.
Torak2006-11-24 09:30:25
Ever fought a mage without trans discipline that has dual paralysis daggers going? I have, it isn't pretty. I will try to dig up a log when I go home this weekend
Shryke2006-11-25 07:58:47
Manta daggers are a complete lockdown against a low discipline player.
Shamarah2006-11-25 13:05:21
You can only use daggers on one channel now. Or soon you will only be able to use them on one channel.
Hiriako2006-11-25 17:03:03
That's a pretty big weakening to daggers. I wonder how much that'll affect an inept-discipline person. Which channel will they be usable on? Substratus or Superstratus?
