Edit: Deleted the song as I was told it's not possible for mortals to learn or use this language, but I can't delete the thread.

Much wub.gif to a made up language WITHOUT apostrophes! <3

*grumble* one of the things I didn't like about the event. Divine seemed like the cool slightly above-mortal comprehension type language and now people are doing things like this. sad.gif

keep in mind that while you may be able to take literal words as written and see them to mean something, without knowing pronunciation of the Divine Language and all its nuances your song could very easily when sung translate like this.

My mother was a goat, my father a bear.
I have to go potty, but I don't know where.
Someone please pass a book, this is gonna take longer than it looks.

For example, I asked what Ilo meant, Elostian said it meant approach. He told me to pronounce it again. I did so, and it meant ... I think it was "towards" that time.

The best way to get corrected is to make mistakes. The best way to learn is to get corrected. smile.gif

"Approach" and "toward" sounds like the same meaning to me. My idiomatic translation takes more liberties than that already.

I think it's more of a matter that you can pronounce a word many, many ways. Accents, tone, etc seem to be able to change the meaning of a word in High Divine no matter how subtle.

Also approach and toward are two separate words, you wouldn't say "I move approach the temple" in most cases

Edit: Deleted my original reply, not worth it.

Seems Ae is meant to be unknowable and unusable by mortals, since it depends too much on intonations that mortals can't hear or make. If so, I hope this fact will be made known in-game in a public form, so people will have an IC reason to abandon their efforts. Things in the recent event were very public and gave no reason to think the language could not or should not be learned.

If they'd been there for the aftermath of the event - namely, speaking with Elostian - people would know that. There was no more reason to know you could that there was to know you couldn't. dunno.gif

I was telling people something similar and will snap anyone who I see using it

I suppose we should make a helpfile about Ae.
