I wonder if that's allowed. Probably not...
Unknown2006-11-19 22:13:13
IRE isn't losing anything from it. I really don't see why it wouldn't be allowed if a credit trades are. Being that you can sell credits for gold and buy credits with gold.
Vix2006-11-19 22:23:03
This would definitely not be allowed since you can only trade credits obtained OOCly. Even if you bought credits and sold them for gold I don't think you can trade the gold.
Unknown2006-11-19 22:27:29
What is the difference between say 50 credits I buy with 250,000 gold and 50 I buy with real money?
It wouldn't make any sense for IRE to keep track of credit trades since the majority of credits on the credit market are bought ooc'ly.
I mean if it's 100% unallowed then I can just buy credits with the gold and trade them and sell them for gold.

By the rules, it's 100% unallowed to trade anything other than credits obtained with real money, as in, ones that were never bought nor sold for IC cash.
The difference betwen 50cr you buy with 250,000 gold and 50cr you buy with OOC cash is that one involved money your CHARACTER obtained through your CHARACTER's efforts, not money you, the player, obtained and spent upon the game. You can take OOC cash ingame, but you cannot take IC cash out of game - that is the intent of the system, and part of the ULA you agreed to when you started playing.

From HELP CREDITTRANSFERS
The rule for credit transfers
-----------------------------
If you gain/acquire the credits in an In Character manner, then you cannot
transfer them between your seconds. If you gain credits in an Out of Character
manner, then you may transfer them freely.
IC ways to gain credits (can't transfer freely amongst seconds)
---------------------------------------------------------------
- Spend gold to purchase credits via the credit market.
- As a mentor.
- For various forms of leadership.
OOC ways to gain credits (which can then be transferred freely)
---------------------------------------------------------------
- Buy them for money on the Lusternia website, or via the mails.
- Win a Bardic/Artisanal contest.
- As a Guide.
Not possible to do that.

ILLEGAL!
Daganev2006-11-20 00:33:58
I don't understand... There is no issue of seconds here...
Vix2006-11-20 00:38:58
More of the fact that the gold is obtained ICly rather than OOCly I'd think. Not too much different from completely trading characters. (For those of you in love with debating, please spend your time elsewhere rather than picking apart that last sentence. Thanks. )
ferlas2006-11-20 10:11:15
Buy the credits and trade the credits, it'll be alright as one of the admin said before theres no way to tell the difference between ooc or ic bought credits.

I asked the IRE administration before trading my credits because I never bought any of them with real money. You are allowed to trade credits from one game to another, even if they are gained in an IC manner. Gold may or may not be allowed, but you can always just buy credits and trade them between games...
Unknown2006-11-20 15:20:53
Why not ask the admins? And if they say no, do like Zarquan said - transfer credits.
Vix's example is about alts. Doesn't apply here. APPLES AND ORANGES PEOPLE! Two different things!

I've been told by Achaea admin in the past that trading credits obtained IC-ly between seconds and between games is not allowed. That might be viewed differently here, but it was considered illegal before.
Actually, I believe I remember Roark posting somewhere on these forums that if he wanted to, he could trace the root of how each and every credit was originally obtained, but that it was relatively labor-intensive and not usually worth it.
For some reason, credits from bardic/artisanal entries are also allowed to be transfered, even though they are considered the character's works. Other IC credits (and gold), from my past conversations and understanding, should not be transfered.

It's just gold. And doesn't involve alts or credits. If I gave some swords to a friend on Imperian and they gave me some herbs here, I think the Admin could care less. Much less.

Achaea admins have a "no can do, capt'n" attitude. I've seen things in Lusternia done without blinking an eye that the achaean administration told me were a huge no-no.
Just one another advantage of Lusternia above other IRE games. Well, at least that one.
Unknown2006-11-20 16:45:16
So.. If I had an achaean character before I made Aesyra on Lusternia.. Aesyra would just be a second? Technically you'd have to always hit 'yes' at registration then when it asks you if you have another char, even if you only have that one on that realm. -And- it would add a connection between your characters in different realms, and I always thought realms don't relate at all..
If they don't count as seconds however, then I don't see how trading gold would not be allowed. It only says you can't transfer it between seconds.
EDIT: That's just how I'd interpret the HELP CREDITTRANSFER file, it really depends on what you see as seconds and what not.

Seconds and Multiplaying only relate to multiple characters in the same game. If you have a character in each of the four IRE games, they are not seconds of one another. Thus, you are allowed to transfer credits from one game to another.

As long as you are trading credits with another independant person, and not
between your own characters you may trade credits gained off the credit market.
In other words Bob may buy credits off the credit market and trade them with
Jim, but Bob cannot buy credits off the credit market and give them to another
of his characters. I hope this clears things up for you."

Now I didn't issue about gold. I asked if I am allowed to trade credits I bought of the credit market and trade them to someone else in another game for credits in this game (ire games that is).
So I am assuming the same thing is allowed only if you are trading the gold with another independant person and not yourself...
