None of the above. They're all worthless.

It's realtively true at the moment, given how deafness works.

Pick based on your preferred RP. Duh?
If you pick a guild/org you don't like the premise of, the effects their specialization gives isn't going to mean jack.

"Duh" i've already picked, as far as i'm aware it was never a crime to be interested in the combat element of the game (although you'd sure think so sometimes, obviously everyone who plays Lusternia is here solely for the GLORIOUS RP that is legendary through the land), and i haven't been around so i am interested in y'know, the new class that i know nothing about and that you do.

Except that if one skillset is obviously better than the others for combat, then something is wrong. The whole point is to try and achieve balance, therefore, again, choosing based on combat effectiveness should end in a stalemate, resulting in choosing based on RP.
No guild should be better or worse than another. If you go into a guild that is well-known to be better, expect it to be nerfed, or others beefed. And then you'll bitch that you're no longer over-powered.
So yes, it really is a crime to pick a guild based on which is stronger, because you'll end up making us all read your rants when its no longer so.

Take everything Fallen says with a grain of salt, he's grouchy and subscribes to the "my way or the highway" philosophy.
That being said, all of the bards are still being looked at, and while it's not criminal to look at how classes fair in combat (and you should expect changes to happen from time to time even in order skill sets), it would be criminal of me to state which one is the most useful in combat when they're not even fully implemented yet. I expect the illusions spec to add a different dimension to things.

Are you baiting me, Wesmin? I think that warrants a warning.
Unknown2006-11-21 22:00:29
I think my point was missed, i'm not asking because i'm basing in game choices off of it, i'm merely interested in combat, and therefore i'm interested in discussing a major new combat implementation, it's a given that i'm not going to absorb knowledge of the technicalities of the other bardic classes in game, because they rarely cross over.
You people know a lot of what you know through these forums, especially technicalities relating to figures and game engine nuances, unless you're particularly bad at being IC and don't realise these things are OOC.
It's just a friendly discussion, no need to be wound so tight.
Edit: And no, Wesmin wasn't baiting you, he was making an observation, one that i'm glad i heard.

Once deafness is fixed, all of them will be pretty good except Wildarrane which needs some serious changes.
The key phrase is, of course, "once deafness is fixed" because as-is they're completely worthless as they're ridiculously easy to negate.
Fallen, quit trying to dictate how others should play the game, kthx.

Yes, i'm trying to dictate how others should play by telling them to choose based on their preferences.
Its a fact that any overpowered guild is going to be nerfed. So picking a guild based on which is overpowered is silly, and is only going to lead to bitching.
How is that "my way or no way"? Its a simple fact that anyone can attest to who has been playing this game for the past two years.

It's true, i agree. Theres that and the fact that overpowered classes that aren't nerfed are impossible to be respected in.
So i just want to clarify, i'm not "making a choice" on a guild, i made a choice already based on the city i'm familiar with and enjoy RP'ing in. The post was meant to be pretty broad and just spark a conversation about the class so i could soak up some missing information that is up to date.

Worse - Some people who pick guilds based on how combat effective they are will guildhop when the nerfs come in, generally speaking. Those people need to be sodomized with a clue-by-four, and forbidden from joining any guild, ever.

VERY wide assumption there, mr. I Know Better. If you're so good at predicting how people will react to things, why aren't you a politician?
EDIT: Fallen, Verithrax and everyone else with similiar notions - Benji asked a question. You either answer the question or sod off. So sod off.
EDIT-2 Now that the RP-elitists are properly beaten up, answering the original question. Perhapsthis can help you a bit.

One question to ask youreelf is, do you want tarot or ecology more? Both have some nice skills in them.

What on earth is a clue-by-four..
Did you mean a 2x4 (two-by-four)?
Aiakon2006-11-22 11:27:47
Ah.. the joys of punishment by sodomy. Did you drop that soap, Ixion?
