I'm considering going to either Serenwilde or Magnagora warrior, mage, or guardian archtypes, or druids types

so first what is what are skills for these that make them soo good

second what would be a good race

third what does high and low magic do?

also this game rocks I've been switching between Lusternia and Achaea since I have join here

Thanks for the information y'all

Who said they were good? Talk to people of that guild and if you want to be OC happy, pick a guild in which you can rp successfully, as far as I know, every guild puts restrictions on its members, make sure you and your character can live with these restrictions. But in summary

Mages use demesnes, its like bonding with a room and you can do uber stuff in there, out of your demesne though your fighting goes down to the effectivness of a wet shlong attempting to assassinate the president. In orther words very bad.

Warriors requre a bit more devotion and alot more credits to play effectivly in combat. But they have some uber cool stuff, like beheading and the likes.

I always thought Druids and Mages were the same Archtype, well in any case I forgot to mention hindering. You need to pile on the hindering aka status effects, and you need a system if you plan fighting anyone, its a sad realization I know. You can use Ethelons system, I took his gutted it and made my own, but then I dont really play anymore so yea.

Guardians have little familiars that help them. You make your familiars do stuff as you do stuff. Its all kinda cool, gets a little complicated though when your in a commune becouse you have all those ents and whatnot.

second what would be a good race

There really is no easy answer to this, as there are many factors upon choosing, most people would say pick a race that fits your rp, I tend to agree. Nuff said.

third what does high and low magic do?

Nifty junk, nothing I would consider to important, except for the all important circle in Low magic and pentagram in high magic, protects you from most attacks as long as you dont do stuff. In summary workon your guild skills first. IMHO

Yes, yes it does. And you will prolly get yelled at by the RP GODS that walk among us here in the forums that all these decisions should be made in game and not on OC influnces, which is total BS, so just ignore them and listen to the helpful people that may or may not post after me.

P.S.
in general, this kind of post is looked down upon becosue it makes you seem like you are trying to min/max your character, and no one wants another misguided powerhungry griefer in thier mists.

P.S.S.
But who cares about general opinon be your own man or woman!

P.S.S.S.
There are like a bajillion things just like this already in the forums, doyourself a favor and use the search command and if you have to use those awesome, although apparently latent, necromancy skillz and rez that summna b*tch if you have a question on that topic.

I personally thinks that Paladins are one of best guilds.
Sacraments rocks.
And warrior fighting is really nice, and bashing is just insane if you get high speed rapiers. You can be tanky and fast in same time.
I should never leave them. doh.gif

High/Low magic have skills in them for various things, like seeing/attacking ghosts/dreambodies, small stat boosts, etc. At inept, you get unlimited shield tattoos (to speak in Achaean terms, which you seem to be familiar with), and at novice (16 lessons in), you get unlimited hammer tattoos.

Good races depend on your class. In general, speed matters a LOT in this game. Thus, tae'daes are always worthless. Humans are generally considered good for any class, since they get the exp boost, and after level 50, start getting really nice stat increases. City/Commune spec races are also usually a good choice (Merians in Celest, Eflens in Serenwilde, Faelings in Glomdoring) except for Viscanti, which are considered terrible, even for Magnagorans.

For any class that uses balance (warriors/tarot guardians/tarot bards), Aslaran is a really good choice. For any class that uses eq, Mugwumps are usually a good choice. Other races are certainly good too, of course.

Viscanti are by far the best out of the four Specilized races!

ninja.gif For Low-Midbie hunting. High health, high regen, and resists, look out rats, dogs, spectres, and grubs!

EDIT - Meh!

Paladins are as good as other warrior guilds. If someone told you otherwise... well, they were whiners. Grass is always greener on the other side.

Highmagic is better than Lowmagic for warriors, since it has a skill that increases Strength (for power, true), which is THE most important stat for warriors.

When looking at races, you'd like to have high STR AND high speed. Con and int are good, charisma is good if you want to do influencing, dex is worthless.

So, good races are: aslaran, human (high levels), taurian, krokani, orclach, racial specialisation races (so merian for paladins).

Exceptionally BAD races are: tae'dae, non-Glomdoring faeling, dwarf. Since you're a warrior, also add here the magic-based races: lucidian, mugwump, etc.

Finally, a word to Trasymachus - these "RP gods" are two-three people who I think just like being anal like that. Other people (like me, and I have a deserved troll reputation) are more than happy to help, and we do.

I disagree. Because of buffs, highmagic is only better than lowmagic for Paladins and trackers. Commune warriors get bear, so geburah wouldn't do anything unless that get a truefavour/herofete. Ur'guard only see a benefit from geburah at night (once again, unless they have a truefavour or herofete), and during the day they have the same strength as a lowmagic Ur'guard during the day.

Even for Paladins and trackers lowmagic is a consideration because of serpent. Amazing skill.

From a bashing/hunting perspective, all the guilds except warriors (and Bards now) have a basic skill that hurts mobs, and then an advanced skill later on that'll most likely take either time or credits (or both) to get to. Warriors, I've been told, grow stronger as their skill and level increase. Bards' attack gets stronger as you increase your aptitude with your instrument. The upgraded attacks of the other classes are not equal though.

From personal experience, I'd say being a Merian Aquamancer with forcefield is absolutely awesome for hunting. The high charisma plus easy charisma buffs give you a lot of ego (which acts like health with forcefield), and the Aqua staff is relatively strong (if not the strongest attack against mobs). The demesne effects of Aquamancy can also be helpful with hunting (passive healing and passive affliction curing! woot).

If a race can be specialized, I would -not- go for the unspecialized version of that race. For instance, being an unspecialized Merian bard is currently very painful (algae are almost killing me! eesh). Humans are cool, if a bit bland. Remember that you get (only) one reincarnation, so your choice at the beginning isn't necessarily permanent...
