I think it'd be beyond awesome for shop owners to receive a log of all the transactions that go down in their shop, i.e.
12/1/06, 12:02:01: Tervic purchased an enchantment recharge for 28 gold.
it'd make keeping track of stuff SO much easier rather than just having a pile of gold and no records. It could be thought of something like a ledger and could be checkable from the store room.
On a related note, does anyone else have a problem with the way Shopallies currently works? I hear it lets everyone on your personal allies list access your shop as though they were owners, or something like that. I think it'd be a lot better if it were more along the lines of manse permissions.

Stop ninjaing me dammit!

Yes to the idea, and I never use shop allies, because it lets everyone in...
Kharaen2006-12-03 01:20:56
With normal shops, you need to have a key to enter the shop I believe. If you want someone to set prices on wares in the shop, you'd do allyshop, and anyone on your personal allies list can set prices. If they don't have access to the shop, they can't set prices.
With manse shops, you just set perms on the door on who can enter the shop, and allyshop to set prices.
I too would love to see a ledger though. I've got...a lot of items in my shop, and its sometimes very hard to keep track of what's sold.

Ah, you're right, you can set door perms.

I don't want you knowing what underwear I buy
Ildaudid2006-12-03 01:59:58
Yeah I don't wanna know about a boy with a sexchange, what type of underwear she buys now....
As for me I wear the butterfly panties... since they make me feel like I can fly

There's already a "shopkeeper" there, she knows what you buy! Having an item that tells you doesn't distort the realism at all.
Clise2006-12-03 02:03:22
Well it doesn't have to say WHO bought WHAT. Only WHAT was sold and when.

Ooh, good idea!
Kaalak2006-12-03 04:04:49
Brilliant idea. I support it.

Even though I don't own a shop I think this would be an awesome addition. The current system is too primitive!
Tervic2006-12-03 07:02:57
Feel free to let me know if this is going too far, but I think I have an idea on how the shop ledger and logs and all the other fun stuff could be implemented:
Make a shop sort of like a mini-organization.
Make it like a clan, except the owner/leader is the owner of the shop (i.e. "appointed" in the case of org shops, or just flat out rules it in the case of manse shops. Clans already have the adding people system (shop allies) and logs (ledger), and having a "shop aether" would just be icing and could possibly lead to cartel-run shops that exclusively stock their wares.
Even better, the clan privs system could be used to only let people have access to certain bins or certain aspects of the shop, giving the flexibility I'm sure a lot of people'd like to see.
Perhaps this is getting a little too grandiose, but it never hurts to think big

I don't think this is the first time someone has come up with an idea like this, although.. I'm not entirely positive.
It's a good idea, though. I support it as well. Go ledgers.

I'd really love this. Thumbs up!
Anisu2006-12-03 16:55:28
with this I could of accually keep my manse on my name and let malicia sell stuff in my manse store so I'm all for!
Gwylifar2006-12-03 17:13:12
I made a zMUD script that tells me what's missing since last time, though of course it doesn't know who bought what. Made it for Aetolia so it would probably need a bit of tweaking, but it proves it could be done. Just use a data record variable to store what's in there, then copy it into another variable and compare.
Ekard2006-12-03 17:28:48
Briliant idea!
Even if you would have names in log, then you could announce that your shop is 100% annonymous and that you will never tell anyone who was buying from you.
