The only thing more annoying than spam, is spam in my box telling me that there is spam.

Please do not report a spam thread unless its been some time before its been deleted.

My message box was full today from people reporting the same spam message.

However, Thank you for the effort!

Eh, how would we know if other people reported it? Or do you mean one person sending in multiple reports?

What he means is that there are multiple moderators on these boards, so someone is bound to notice the tread soon enough. If the thread is still there a few hours after it has been initially posted, then it would be a good time to notify others.

Would it be a better idea to report it, then post in the thread that you've done so?

Not really...

I believe you have the ability to get notified if people respond to a thread you wrote, so odds are , responding to a thread just makes things worse.

Psh! And to think that I lovingly reported two pieces of spam today.. even though it lags out the forums for me.. and this is the thanks I get! tongue.gif On both I was the first view though.

Yeah, I have about six emails a day, telling me I have six PMs a day. Between all the gods and three mods, we're pretty good about catching them smile.gif

And now for something completely different:

QUOTE

Man: Well, what've you got?

Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam...

Vikings: Spam spam spam spam...

Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam spam...

Vikings: Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!

Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Arix2006-12-06 06:51:19
Whaddaya mean you don't like spam?!
Unknown2006-12-06 11:42:09
Well, even though the General section was renamed to 'Common Grounds' we still seem to get a lot of spam posts. unsure.gif

Spam bots are able to autoreg because registration doesn't have an image with a code in it you have to type out (bot's can't read images as we can, thus can't make spam accounts). Seems to be plagueing invision board powered forums a lot lately, a guild forum from another game is suffering from it as well.

I believe invision has forum addons that are downloadable from their website, and if they do then probably someone has written an image code registration addon which could perhaps be added to block out the bots.
