You checked that? It was quite a time since I fought with a hexer, but I'm rather sure that a single hex involves throwing just one glowing glyph.
Still, in that duel no hex of hers gave an affliction message, so she used only doublewhammies (two masked afflictions for 2 power) OR whammies (1 masked affliction for 1 power).

Because it doesn't train someone in how to fight against shadowdancers nor against wiccans, but rather, how to fight against the Shadowdancer Champion specifically. Champion artifacts, except for the mage/druid ones, give a vast advantage over not having them. I still find it silly that the "best" combatants in each guild are given an edge over the others. I suppose that's just more of Lusternia's positive reinforcement at work

umm am i misunderstanding the point of combat rankings? they arent training there meant to find the best fighter, in a normal spar sure ask me not to use it but in a combat ranked spar then ill use everything i have just like a duel

It gives paralyse, black lung, and a minor mana drain. Compare that to the Handmaiden (blackout, paralyse, mana drain, damage), Grim Horror (blackout, freeze, fear, mana drain), Patchou (aeon, off balance, mana drain, bleeding).

Shuck giving aeon would be worse than Grim giving fear. I'm pretty sure champion pets don't attack faster than quicksilver, and even if they did, it would have to use the aeon attack twice in a row. The reason aeon's so good on Patchou is because Moondancers have an active aeon to go with it.

Because its an unneeded advantage, pretty much ask anyone who's every had a champion artifact and they will say they are pretty powerful/overpowered. The champion should be able to kill without their special pet anyway, so when sparing don't use your pet learn to fight without it and then you have it as a nice bonus in real fights.

I think all champion artifacts should improve the defense, healing or curing abilities of the champions to above average. Improving survivability for people who take responsibility for running headlong into battle without preparation seems fair. As it is now, improving their obviously considerable existing ability to kill and hinder is rather silly - I have to agree with Shorlen. The best fighter in each guild doesn't need an offensive bonus.

Possibly instead give whoever has the posistion of Champion level 1 sip bonus, level 1 fast herb balance, 15% damage reduction shield and an ability trueheal someone they come to the rescue of once.
Or automatically trueheals someone they come to the rescue of once. (wouldn't cost power)
