How often do quests reset?

I've been wanting to try my hand at the Stewartsville Mansion for awhile now. But every time I go, the mystery has already been solved. I have tried waiting around for the quest to rest, but it doesn't appear to do so very quickly.

I think a couple of hours. Stewartsville is almost always taken, FYI.
Unknown2006-12-17 17:14:58
I think it's more like 8-12 hours. Definately not every couple.
Exeryte2006-12-17 17:16:58
Yep, I'd say at least nine hours for the major village quests.
Zynna2006-12-17 17:46:14
Thanks. I guess waiting around isn't the answer then! It's just having luck when you first get there!

When I was doing Stewartsville as a little newbie, it was 4 hours to the second.

Was that like a million years ago?
Exeryte2006-12-17 20:44:48
Must've changed then. I remember only being able to do it twice per day, even after obsessively checking Stewartsville every ten minutes. Then I started to send Gumboliah Brooks a tell to see if it was open or not. tongue.gif Those were the days...
Genevieve2006-12-17 21:57:54
When does that do? Sending a tell?
Tzekelkan2006-12-17 22:00:19
If you send a tell to Gumboliah and don't get the "To whom do you wish to tell?" message, it means she's spawned and the quest is free.
Exeryte2006-12-17 22:01:38
If you -can- send Brooks a tell, he is there and the quest is open. If you can't, then the quest isn't open. You can use it for most denizens. I just hope they don't change it now. unsure.gif

EDIT: Ninja'ed
Forren2006-12-17 22:04:23
Is doing that even legal?
Tzekelkan2006-12-17 22:12:51
I've always considered it like scrying. If I can scry you, why shouldn't I be able to scry anyone else, even the NPCs? ICly, it makes perfect sense.

Eh? No it doesn't, because you're not scrying. You're speaking to the NPC. ICly it makes bugger all sense.
Ceren2006-12-17 22:26:09
You're seeing if you can connect an aether strand to them by sending a tell.

Nice try, but I'm so not accepting that.

Ok, you're right, it's not like scrying. But talking to an NPC is still like talking to another player, ICly. Brooks just needs to 'log in' for me to talk to her, though. tongue.gif

Ok. Fair enough, so long as you and Brooks have regular chats and you're just catching up. tongue.gif

Yeah, I've done her 'quest' a few times. You see, she's not very bright - no matter how many times the countess fakes her death, she always falls for it. Good times. biggrin.gif

Why do you keep calling Gumboliah her and she?
