Not to sound as if I'm complaining, but it's getting pretty bad. Not to mention I've seen it mentioned that some of it contains viruses. Are the admins currently doing anything to put a stop to it?
Verithrax2006-12-17 04:06:37
No.
What they should be doing is set up a CAPTCHA.

They currently do use a CAPTCHA... and guests are not supposed to be able to post.

Crikey; I didn't expect the sort of spam that goes through CAPTCHAs to become so common.
I guess we're screwed until Bayesian filtering becomes available as a feature in IPB.

The CAPTCHA is pretty terrible. Just plain numbers. Make it harder.
Richter2006-12-17 05:16:41
I don't know if they can actually "make it harder". As far as I know, Estarra doesn't code for Invision.

I agree. This spam just gets in the way of actual Lusternia players trying to sell Viagra across the border.
Very annoying.

Come, brothers and sisters! We must form a crusade against the evil spam overlords!

Heh. Ok, that one made me giggle.

The spam is ruinin' my business!
Caffrey2006-12-18 16:55:47
I replied to one of the "herbal growth" adverts, and all I got was a special ruler with the word "cm" crossed out and "inches" written over. First accurate ruler I've seen.

Actually, if you read the news stories, they've found ways to break the simple CAPTCHAs. The problem is these people are becoming as dedicated as the Anti-Spam people.
This is a coordinated attack.

Time to back track them down and send them Virus Laced Spam, that way Gelo can get revenge for the virus he got for linking to spam porn
Gelo2006-12-20 04:30:58
I had my work pc reformatted because of that stupid virus!
