Hey Here's a new idea for you. how about an event or new gameplay feature that ISN'T about combat or fighitng or DOESN'T require you to be able to fight well to participate in (example: these dang serpents kill non-fighters or poor fighters in 1-2 hits!!!!!) a nice attempt is made at saying this game is about roleplay and quests and politics and doesnt require fighting but really to get anywhere in the game or participate in nearly anything you have to be a good fighter or a high level. bah!
Elysiana2006-12-23 20:48:30
There's arena games, I think, which have nothing to do with combat. And past events have had non-combat focuses - I can remember some that included trivia quizzes, poetry, storytelling... So no, not all events are combat oriented. It's nice for those of us who enjoy that side of things that the recent ones have included a large dose of hunting (not even combat, really - we're fighting NPCs, not PCs!), but it's not really typical.

See: Almost every event, ever, except this one and the Kethuru one.

O.o is a nice way to put it. One serpent hits for...200. A mass of serpents basically kills everyone.

Isn't it "in character" to die really really fast if you are an unskilled, inept fighter who isn't all that hearty when the world is invaded by serpents?

oh? not really.. only small events like hamster hunts... actual events that have any significant meaning like this entire thing that started with the whole elostian thing, all that had something to do with combat or some such and it's been going on for like ages. any event of significant meaning that introduce a new god or skill or guild or anything is all combatty. sorry but no this game focuses largely on combat and actually "a nice attempt is made at saying this game is about roleplay and quests and politics and doesnt require fighting but really to get anywhere in the game or participate in nearly anything you have to be a good fighter or a high level." was a quote said by a fellow player not me heh.

Umm, oh no, you need to use your bashing skills sometimes during an event? unsure.gif

I strongly recommend quitting Lusternia and finding a nice RPI or MUSH. I really don't think this game is what you're looking for.

dont presume to tell me what i am and arent looking for. furthermore dont tell me where the hell to go. I fid it funy how everytime anyone else has any sort of similar complaint, and beleive me i've seen them, they arent immediately told to go somewhere else. yet I am... go figure. if you have nothing creative or constructive to say at all shorlen.. SHUT UP!

Umm, calm down?

Most people don't say, to paraphrase, "I hate the way all events are run here! I've never enjoyed any of them! I think they should be entirely different just to suit my tastes!"
Catarin2006-12-23 22:20:20
Er, quite a bit of this event has been about finding parts of the prophecy (which hasn't required much fighting if I recall) deciphering it, and lots of talking and wandering around.

Yeah, there are serpents to fight but I'm not sure I'm seeing where its dominated the whole thing. Its the most obvious thing to do I guess but that's not the same as the only thing to do....
Tzekelkan2006-12-23 22:21:57
When hungry, eat; when tired, sleep.

Additionally, I didn't really notice that events held around here are primarily combat oriented. This serpentine creature event is rather refreshing.

Exactly. All events in Lusternia are like that. Those who ignore everything except the bashing bits make me sad sad.gif Sure, there's always some bashing, but that's the nature of the game. If you loathe bashing so much that you don't want any of it in any event, then go find another game... This one clearly isn't for you.
Ashteru2006-12-23 22:27:35
Who could loathe bashing?! ohmy.gif

Anarias2006-12-23 22:56:16
I thought the 'calm down' bit was constructive unsure.gif

I'm not sure what you mean by combat-oriented. Are you including bashing or not? Do you mean to say that events are more centered around players killing other players or not?
Unknown2006-12-24 00:34:25
Many, MANY events are not focused on fighters. Violence sometimes happens, because some people just like to PvP/grief (insert appropriate term) when possible. But there were only three events (not counting this one) which included new aggresive creatures.

1. The whole Glomdoring event. I sucked as a fighter back then and couldn't survive them tentacles, but I still had a LOT of fun.
2. Monstrous creatures on the highways. That was nasty, since they were very strong, so strong that they were able to kill almost everyone. The greater the satisfaction of felling one!
3. Grutina event. Serenwilde only, and the monsters were rather weak and unkillable anyway.

That's 3. 4 counting the current one. The rest? They were about exploring new places and RPing new situations. (though I am not saying that the combat-oriented events didn't have RPing and exploring, on the contrary) YES, some had PKing going on, but I don't think that was the intent of the admins, just some players went trigger-happy on enemies from the other org. And thanks to Vitae, it's not a major issue. And even if it is, it's not the ADMINS' fault, but the PLAYERS'. And not even every player's, but only some of them.

Also, verbally lashing out at people who offer constructive criticsm is a very bad tactic.

telling me to go find some other game is NOT constructive criticism. and yeah ashteru bahsing is included in combat like things. can there ever be an event thats SOLELY rp or politics.. with -no- combat sort of things at all? bashing included
