Would be nice to have a test dummy to test various attacks. I know I found it frustrating as a novice not being able to SLASH LEFT on anyone outside of the arena. Plus when you first enter the realm and are protected by Grace, you can't even do that without leaving Grace. It could be something artisans build that is unaffected by attacks, but allows them to be hit.

I like this idea.
I'd love a place to just practice a bit and fiddle. Would cost less, you'd always be able to fight with it, and it never gives a snarky comment.
Maybe there could also be one that when you hit it, it hits you back. It would only stun or knock you down though. No damage. Maybe use a command so SET LEGS and it would attack your legs. if it wins past your defense, it "hits" you or sommat.

Problem is the coding, might also be nice if you can simulate monsters in the arenas, that way, you can tell if you're strong enough or not to fight against one.

There've now been three topics on this very suggestion.
One of which was started by me, so yes, I think it's a good idea.

I want to see a test dummy that you can put various level of armour on it, and then when you hit it, it tells you how much you hit it for. Or when it gets hit with an affliction, it tells you which affliction it got hit with!
You swing at a test dummy!
A test dummy screams, "Yowzers! That hurt me 1200 bad"

I didn't like this idea until I read Daganev's post. That would be useful AND fun.

Hehehehe - agreed.

I like the idea of the dummy screaming "Yowzers!" best.
Karnagan2007-01-10 19:29:41
Oh dear GOD. If they could make Forgers create tackling dummies that could wear armour, and then report on their limb damage/ overall health... I might have an evilgasm.
Rylan2007-01-10 20:49:16
Yeah, being a developer, I understand the complications in code... sort of an object, sort of a monster, needs to respond like a player... but hey, I don't have to code it, and I know I've paid more for credits here than I have for any retail console or PC game, so why not throw the idea out there... (Sorry that it's a repost, should have searched first)

Dummies would be great. Especially if they reacted to afflictions. Lots of stuff I'd like to test out, but I don't want to go around bothering people to test out every single skill on them and look for good combinations. Perhaps make them available in arena mode so tarot cards and what else used isn't wasted? Training rooms for each guild with that mode sound like another good idea.

I would love this.

I completely agree.

I believe I was the first one to suggest this

Yes. Yes you were. And your one sounded so much better than mine It was all set up nicely and used "Constructs" instead of dummies. If I could be bothered to find the link at 2 minutes to midnight, I would.

This was mentioned in the past but I can't remember what, if any, was the admin response.
EDIT: I really should read a whole thread before replying.

from the thread I posted
Heh, this would be a massive project to code, so don't expect to see it any time soon.

You know there's a training dummy in the guildhall of the Shallamese monks in Achaea. As far as I know it doesnt hit back nor do anything, but its a start.
This is what the topic started wanted to have right? Something you can hit with to test things.
So... I dont know, maybe one of the admins could get Sarapis drunk and have him send the code to Lusternia?
