Does anyone have a debate system which they would be willing to sell (or better yet, give away?) It's another of those cases where I could probably write one myself easily enough, but I'm incredibly lazy, and spend all day writing code, so I'd rather get to actually USE the system than spend the time building it.
Anyway, I'm flexible in what I'm looking for, but the ideal would track the mindset of the target, and whether each debate won, lost, or tied, offering suggestions for which debate attack should be used next (assuming the target doesn't change mindset).
As for tracking my mindset, I'm not sure yet what is best. It seems that debating is mostly luck, so the ideal would probably be something that just changes the mindset randomly at random intervals of time (something like a timer that fires randomly between 3-8 seconds, and picks a random mindset out of the three). There might be better ways to do it, but I'm not a great debater just yet (which is why I'm looking for someone who knows what they're doing to build a system).
If you have a system, or you're willing to build one, either post about it here (including prices) or send me a message about it.

here's my idea for it- don't do it.

I like my debating system, it's completely manual, it tells me when I should change mindset, and it tells me with each attack I do what I should attack with next.

I wrote one like that before that worked pretty well, but I lost it now. The only problem with it was that I kept forgetting my aliases, or getting them mixed up.

I have on like ash's I can hook you up with.. PM me and we can work something out.
Hazar2007-01-11 22:25:50
Here is my entirely simplistic debating system!
pont - alias - debate @target with pontification
pass - alias - debate @target with passion
pett - alias - debate @target pettifoggery
zea - alias - attitude zealotry
law - alias - attitude lawyerly
sai - alias - attitude saintly
cau - alias - mindset cautious
ana - alias - mindset analytical
ped - alias - mindset pedantic
circ - alias - fasttalk circuitous to @target
hurr - alias - fasttalk hurry to @target
loop - alias - fasttalk loopholes to @target
And you can add identification triggers, which is on my list to do.
Most important thing to remember is that, as a game of 'luck', it's all about statistics, probability, and optimization.

Be completly random, its rock paper scisiors really it dosn't matter about timing or skill just have a totally random changing mindset and a random debate but make sure you can do debates manually when you notice your against someone who never changes their mindset much.

A rock paper scissors function is good, but you can beat anyone with it if you just wait for them to show their hand and hit them with the strongest attack next.. Rock paper scissors is only good against other rock paper scissors.. Derian and I have spoken, we'll get it together and it'll be on the system soon enough.
ferlas2007-01-12 19:41:07
Rock paper scisiors defence is the best type of defence really, you can't predict what they are going to use and they can't tell what your using till they hit so randomly pick 1-3 for every hit they make and you've a better chance of defending against it, predicting and guessing what they are going to use can only be done by a person you can't build a system smart enough to guess that. And if you could you've just built some sort of super computer AI system.
Debating is just highest charisma/ego + total luck.

I can get the high charisma/ego - had up to 19 yesterday. I'm still behind on luck and strategy.
Anyway, I might end up working what Shryke and I come up with into a rock paper scisors defense, but I'll still use manual offense. Automated offense might work on some situations, but I like having control over that part.
Daganev2007-01-12 20:28:31
The only offense you have to worry about is when the person you are debating doesn't know how to change mindsets or anything like that. No point in attacking randomly when the person you are fighting isn't defending randomly.
Defensively though, I don't see why you don't just constnatly change mindsets

Rylan2007-01-12 21:34:08
unless the person attacking you is attacking consistently... so maybe have your mindset switch to random if they hit you where you're week, but have a way to drop into manual as well.
But really I think we're making this more complex than it need to be.. then again: http://www.worldrps.com/index.php?option=c...6&Itemid=61
Yeah....

I'd offer you mine, but it's rather complex.
Richter2007-01-13 03:08:45
Just spent a few hours on mine, think I should be good now. Just know what they're hitting you with, and know how to cure the afflictions.
