Okay, my IC sister is planning on suiciding her main character in favor of a different one, and she wants Inox to angst over it a bit. We're planning to leave her journal with Inox, or at least a copy of it, but I'm not sure if it would disappear with her. I know that messages from suicided people say that they're from "a lost soul".

Also, as she doesn't have internet right now, she wants me to ask if it would be possible to make another character with the same name afterwards.

A copy of her journal should remain in tact.. as for her character, if she's over level 20 or 30 or something, then no, a new character with the same name won't be creatable.

Why not keep the character around instead of making another identical one later? The grief could be about her leaving for so long instead of death. Seems a lot less hassle.

I think it has something to do with her character's fear of aging, and her wanting to start afresh(though she's really attatched to the name), since she hasn't played her for so long. She's in her 50's now, and still level 35 or so.

Edit: She even has a big fancy explaination as to why she will suddenly be 16 again, something to do with the Fates accidentaly yanking her thread forward in the tapestry

That could actually be something to pursue in game you know. She could jump to the Shadowdancers or Ebonguard to learn Penumbra in search of eternal youth.

Or something.

I agree with Anarias. the Night Skillset has an ability which returns the user to 18, gives +2 charisma, and ego regen.

However, as I said, the system will put the name on the restriction list once she suicides due to her character's level.

Well, if she suicided, that would definitely break of the contact too, but with no hope of it ever being fixed re-established

I don't like the name though. You know, everytime I ask for people to do it, I keep hoping that I won't phrase it such that people thinks that they're viewing a Penumbra's ritual. Penumbra is so much nicer as a title than as a coven skill.

But still, nothing beats freaking out non-Night users at Master Ravenwood with it. (And myself when I first did it )


On-topic, no, no suiciding. I don't even like the fact that there is such a thing in a MUD, let alone thinking of suiciding so trivially.

And, if someone suicides as a 50 year old, and then gets reborn as a 16 year old is an 'accidental yanking of the thread in the tapestry', I think the entire tapestry has been unravelled in the process.

I miss it too, that and Nightkiss were the most fun skills I've ever used. They're so well written.

What gets me, is, The Fates have spent almost every moment of every day (With exception to visits to oh-so-violent Keph, and telling Ladantine cryptic junk, and probably a few other similar occasions.) since before time began doing this whole thread thing. Why would they suddenly make a mistake?

Anyways, I agree that suiciding isn't something to be taken lightly, and I suspect that Takaia will drop that idea in favour of the penumbra one.
