MAybe not exactly monks or anyting, but some type of martial art or something of the such. Just try not to make over powered.

Monk martial artists are kinda overdone in other IREs. Lusternia appears to be trying to keep things relatively unique when it comes to classes from other IREs.

Actually I think if/when they do the Monk archetype, it will have some decent skill trees so we'll get some unique martial arts, people can pick styles like hard/soft, etc.

I agree with Shorlen and Arkzrael's points, and also, some decent monk brainstorms and skillsets have already been proposed on the other pages of this forum.

Personally, I know we have NPC monks, but I don't really think it would fit in with Lusternia with the current usual archetype system.

I think Monk might be a good idea, since you can have a overall rp with the Tosha Monks who can teach each city/commune different styles. Also, I loved being a Daru in the Aetolia and could do it again! tongue.gif

Lusternia's guilds are not unqiue, none of them all. IRE is a coppycat in terms of Guilds, you can find any Lusternia guild on any other IRE mud.

A lot of the lower level skills are similar to skills (usually higher up) from other IRE games, but the mere fact that any one guild usually has skill motifs from at least two other guilds, means that it isn't a "copycat" from one of the other games.

Mages, for example are like Druids (demesne/groves) and Serpents (Illusions from Subterfuge). And then Psioncs and Dreamweaving are like nothing from any of the games (unless there's something new I'm missing).

Do you honestly think our bards are more than remotely similar to the other bards? Music is pretty much entirely unique (in execution, if not in effect), the closest thing to acrobatics is probably Pranks, and then Illusions and Tarot have never been Bard skillsets.

Also, Imperian bards play songs with magical effects.
