A medallion carved with a picture of a pointed stick poking into an eyeball.

When worn anyone scrying you suffers a random affliction (it doesn't stop them seeing where you are, just gives them an affliction as well ..)

It wouldn't change game balance or be particularly useful in ordinary play, but it certainly would at least give me some partial compensation from having my screen spammed by scrying every 5 minutes.

LOVE IT!

most spam is farscout, and farscout certainly should never be restricted by such an artifact (or one would get afflicted 10+ times in one balance)

there is however an easy way to fix your problem: aethersight off, if you can not affort not knowing who is scrying, you probably deserve it anyway

Maybe instead of an affliction, it should just greatly increase the recovery time for the person scrying. The problem is that when combined with a gem, this could become overpowered for raiding.
Daganev2007-01-23 19:16:28
By affliction I thought he meant makes them blind.
Acrune2007-01-23 19:31:11
Yeah, don't like this idea. Mainly because farscout would take a while to recover from, especially considering how often I use it. smile.gif

I love it even more!

I rather like the basic idea as well, though it seems like the details might need some tweaking. Of course, to be completely fair, I suppose there'd need to be something (say a spicy perfume bottle?) that would cause a similar effect on scenting.

I don't see why scent or scan would need this at all. The point of this idea was that when people scry you while you have aethersight, it floods you with warnings. Tweaking things that don't do that seems a bit random.

Actually thats a nice idea for an artifact, skunk in a jar or something allows you to use the spray commands to hide from scent.

Simpler solution, and more balanced, I'd say, is to just give farscout a 1p cost. Is there any reason to actually use Window?
Unknown2007-01-25 01:27:18
There isn't but there is reason to use scry, which is the same thing.
Shirath2007-01-27 22:05:23
Eye-ball-poke-ish-ness... I love it. Quote Daganev: I absolutely love it...
Sylphas2007-01-28 00:47:41
The only reason to use scry is because you don't have farscout.
