I think we could use a good upgrade to the org help files. Currently you have a bunch of ghelp files and novices / newbies see these and get overwhelmed. Even I, with my new alt, get overwhelmed by the number of ghelp files I see. It would be good if we moved to an orghelp system that mirrors the general help files. We could have several headings, which would be what you see when you type ORGHELP INDEX. Then, you could type ORGHELP to see a list of the files under that heading, and of course view those files with ORGHELP . Additionally, we should be able to assign numbers to the orghelp files, which would work the same way as the general help numbers. So, if I did GUILDHELP EDIT NoviceInfo 1, that would be the heading, and would be the first thing displayed by GUILDHELP INDEX. Then, I could do GUILDHELP EDIT Welcome 1.1, that would create the Welcome file under the NoviceInfo heading. GUILDHELP EDIT Training 1.2, would create the Training file, and also show up under GHELP NoviceIntro. For those existing files, I could just type GUILDHELP EDIT TITLE which would change the title, and then assign a number to it so it could be catagorized under this system.

That is an excelelnt Idea.. Send a PM to Sior *duck*
Neerth2007-01-25 01:18:17
At the very least, list the orghelp file names in multiple columns so it doesn't scroll off the screen! The code already does this for library categories.
But yes, this would be a nice idea. Everyone knows Sior is tha bomb, so let's hope his plate gets some room for this.

Go Sior! The active admins and coders are why Lusty is the best IRE game. And the level of conflict.
Razenth2007-01-25 02:54:39
Yay, I get to play with guild help files more than I already do!
Vionne2007-01-25 05:34:27
Even something like the way that shops work, where you could give headings, would be nice.
ferlas2007-01-26 12:49:06
You mean like restriced help files? Like make ghelp novicefile this one read all and ghelp innersomething gr3 or higher kind of thing?
That seems pretty good.

So if i typed GHELP it would give me an organized index with a bunch of topics and then that would be broken down more? If it's a system that emulates the regular help then I'm all for it
Unknown2007-01-26 16:57:08
It would look something like this:
GHELP INDEX
Novices 1
Rules 2
Leadership 3
Combat 4
Advancement 5
Skills 6
GHELP NOVICES
Welcome 1.1
Quickstart 1.2
Learning 1.3
Newton 1.4
Graduation 1.5
GHELP WELCOME or GHELP 1.1
Welcome to the guild! Blah blah blah, blah blah.
So no, not having them restricted to certain ranks, although that might be a useful option.

If you need information restricted to certain ranks put that information in the guild library.
But I really like the ghelp 1.1 idea... alot!
Gwylifar2007-01-26 21:14:45
It'd be a lot more work, but you could always make GHELP CONTENTS manually, listing the other scrolls however you liked, and encourage people to read that instead of GHELP INDEX. Just temporarily until this gets implemented, at least.
Daganev2007-01-26 21:43:37
I don't think that would work, as the point is to reduce the scroll so that its clearly seen, and not too much is given at once. GHELP CONTENT would be exactly the same as GHELP INDEX only slightly more lengthly and a bit more organized.
Its the diffference between a GUI and a command line. IMO

So make GHELP CONTENTS1 and GHELP CONTENTS2.

No no, your corrupting my brilliant idea!
Shirath2007-01-27 21:39:44
I like this idea, corrupted or not! I think this would definetly be one we have to present to Sior I'm fairly new to all this guild stuff, seeing as I only joined one very recently, but aye, the helplist is, just like with city help scrolls (which I'm a great bit more familiar with) one big list of misarchived chaos...
I want this in!!

Mire2007-01-28 16:20:18
I wish I knew more about coding so statements like "We already have this system in place for the regular help files, so theoretically it could be applied to organizations without too much difficulty" would be justified. I love the idea, in any case.
Veonira2007-01-28 17:06:20
I like this idea as well. In my guild we do have a GHELP CONTENTS and a GHELP WHATTOREAD for novices, but this would be flashier and actually a little more professional looking, which would be cool .
