I have a budding idea for a tracking skill addition(s), but I can't seem to be motivated to flesh it out.
My idea is that trackers can use nets, sort of like gladiators of Rome and things like that. First, I thought it would just be "throw net over target" and it entangles them, but that's way too easy to get out of.
Then I started thinking about Sacraments/Necromancy, and how Tracking replaces those two. What if netting had three separate skills, each building off each other to form a really good hinderer, much like Heretic/Infidel/Iquisition and the Necro equivilant (Wrack, I think?).
First, you would need to have the basic netting skill, which allows you to create the net and throw it over the target.
Next, you would need a skill to further bind the target into the net.
Lastly, you need the last skill to really hammer in the net.
My idea:
WEAVE NET
With two rope commodities, you can now weave a hunter’s net. THe net can only be used once.
*Alternatively, make it harder to find and weave, and be able to use it multiple times.
THROW NET AT
With your newly woven net, you can hinder your target, knocking them prone and entangling them in a net. Your target must WRITHE ENTANGLE to escape (not Tipereth/Summer).
BIND
While entangled in a net and prone, you can bind the net together, further entangling your victim. Your target must WRITHE ROPES and then WRITHE ENTANGLE to escape.
STAKE
With a target fully netted, entangled, and prone, you can stake the sides of the net into the ground, further binding your target. Being in a staked net will only allow your target to writhe (or SOMETHING. The intent here is for Trackers to have something akin to Inquisition/Wrack, but something that would make sense with the whole Tracking theme). *Alternatively, once staked they can't do anything until the ropes fall away, say after 5-10 seconds.
Another non-complete idea I had was to give city trackers more urban related-skills, but I don't see that happening. As it stands, there is very little reason for a city warrior to go Tracking, especially given the alternatives.

Good idea, though I think it's kinda better if other than putting in an addition command to bind and stake, perhaps making something... 'magical' to immediately bind the net once thrown onto the target and as long as the target is entangled by the magical tent, it'll slowly sqeeze them to death. And these nets by the way has a chance to recover once writhe out so it won't be a waste if the enemies writhe out or use that highmagic skill to burn away ropes. Dunno, just suggesting something that isn't hard for trackers to do.
EDIT:
Okay, other than making nets magical and stuff or adding more commands to further hinder the target, I suggest maybe that the higher skill in Tracking, the better nets you'll make? (making them stronger, add rocks to make it heavier, etc.)

I like it in a general sense .

It sounds like a good idea. How about the person who's in the net can cut the net with a dagger to get out of the net faster? You could also add weights to the net to make it harder to writhe out of too.

Kinda easy to escape. Invoke Summer... Done... I like the idea though!

It's good, but if you say had.. 3 trackers, omg pwnt. It needs to be something like you can only work with your own net.

Um.. doesnt 3 competent anything vs 1 = omg pwnt?
Can't 3 Necromancers insta-sac? And god knows 3 quickened Nihilists/Celestines could wrack/absolve you pretty quick. Or 3 telepaths. Or 3 telekinetics. Or... do I need to continue?
Shryke2007-02-02 07:36:17
No, you're wrong. No need to argue.

So you're telling me that 3 Celestines with angel's, quickening, and ammisioing wouldn't be able to Absolve you in a matter of seconds?

2 Necromancers + 1 anybody with Trans Riding + Legendary Steed == good times. (Could be 3 Necros, but doesn't have to be-- just need one to crucify, one to sacrifice, and one person to Trample).

So, that would make me right, not wrong. Thank you for clearing that up, Xenthos.
Remember, Ciaran--no need to argue, Buddy.

3 Competent commune bards vs 1 = a great deal of laughter and the target skipping off into the sunrise.
