Ok, well we all know how annoying it is to try to "say to" someone, then find out they aren't there. It makes us look pretty stupid, and it distrupts rp as there's really know way to cover such a thing up. Yeah, everyone could just ignore it like it never happened, but...

Well, so here's suggestion, change it from "say to" to "sayto"! Then, if they aren't there, you can just get a failure message or maybe some interesting emote, like "Daruin opens his mouth, looking around as if wanting to speak to someone, but closes it as he realizes they aren't here."

This is a good idea, and I second it.

Sounds familiar...

Great minds think alike! Of course, all Celestines have great minds.

I had this idea before any of you dry.gif (it's in the design doc for a mud I was idly writing two years ago)

To tell the truth, I ganked this from some other mud, of which sayto is my only memory.

Holy crap, this is a good idea. The kind where it's obvious, once someone brings it up.

Oh Siooooooooor...?!

Doeeeeeet.

Give it, we wants it *nodnod*
Veonira2007-02-04 20:38:09
I like this idea as well, it's really embarassing when it happens!
Gwylifar2007-02-04 20:56:49
Along the same lines, emotes should not default to the untargetted form if the target specified is not there. It's egregiously anti-RP to find yourself doing something you didn't want to do for no IC reason.

I replied in favor of that first thread (at least, I think I did), and I throw in my support for this as well!

Like stumbling to poke yourself in the eye after the person left.

Ugh, I hate doing that.

Put it in, put it in!

EDIT: Please.
