Before anything else, a little more history about this Rock Opera can be found in here
Here is a funny clip I had watching this, this so brings back memories in my childhood (this was introduced to me around 1996) and this still never fails me to give me a laugh with all the dancing, characters and the music itself.
Jesus Before King Herod
And another funny (in a way) clip.
Temple turned to a Marketplace
And the last clip, one of Jesus Apostle's, Simon Zealotes, showing his praise in an overzealous way.
Simon Zealotes
Overall, it's a nice musical and pretty sure Phred and some older players out there might remember this.

Never did care much for the movie or the show. The music itself however is good and your best bet is getting the album version and listening to it. Little whinny Ted Neeley has nothing on Ian Gillan. Nothing I say.

Psh! Ted Neeley forever! *screaming*

Yeah, I've seen that movie. King Herod's Song is absolutely hilarious.

Oh also I remember seeing some clips of a 2000 Australian production. The bloke playing JC (Glenn Carter) had about as much acting talent as a brick but the guy in the Annas role (too lazy to look him up) was delightfully creepy.

Ok, so, semi-off topic, but my high school is performing beauty and the beast, and I play in the pit band. Written in our music are cues in bold brackets, such as or
During the transformation song (can't think of the title of the song, but it has the word transformation in it) above bar 29 is the word, in bold brackets , for no apparent reason. It is not listed in the music for the singers, or any other directions. It's only found in the music for the pit band (all parts including the score). There, according to the actor's music, the list of characters, and everywhere else, is no mention of Jesus.

1973 - love the voices, love the people
2000 - love the costume and that's just it, it's too... metrosexual...

I've been searching for the version that was recorded here in Atlanta not too terribly long ago. It was more a concert than a full blown stage production. But it starred the Indigo Girls as Jesus and Mary Magdalene. One of the folks in an LJ community I'm in said that he had it, but he never uploaded it for me. Which makes me sad. The newest version that was from the newest movie they did makes me want to gag. I can't stand the Judas AT ALL and the Jesus is mediocre. Simon however makes me want to la la. Tony Vincent is a singing GOD. He's only on the OLCR of We Will Rock You as Galileo and he is truly an incredibly talented individual. There was a concert as well not too long ago that I really would've liked to have seen. The cast seemed phenomenal! Jesus was the Jesus from the original movie, even though he's pushing 60 now I think. And Judas was played by Ben Vereen, and King Herod was played by Jack Black. I don't think a recording was ever made unfortunately cause if it was I'd have had my hands on that sucker a LONG time ago.
Wow...I'm a bit obsessive can you tell?
