Is it possible to revert it to normal and choose which one you want to use or see? Or maybe say "We have not-crowned and crowned smilies. You use 'em as you see fit."?

It's not that the crown smilies are bad in terms of design... it's just, some of them look utterly sick with that crown on their head. Old smilies for great justice!

Seriously, the smilies aren't that bad. As it's been said before, there are tons of other smilies you can use if you don't like these. I happen to think they're cute. Ideally, you'd have the option (as with the skins) to use either the base images or the new ones, but it honestly doesn't matter to me either way. I don't post to or read the forums based on their appearance.
Side note: If this is the most pressing issue on the forums, judging by the enthusiastic responses, we must have it pretty darned good right now.

Oh, I agree. As I said, that would be the ideal circumstance, but I'm not going to go so far as to boycott the forums or post things in my signature demanding they be changed. If someone else wishes to do so, it's their prerogative, but it seems a bit excessive to me.
