Recently I had left Lusty for a decent span of time, about a real-life month as other things began clouding the way. I'm attempting to come back but that was enough time for EVERYTHING I ever had to decay.
Here's what I'm proposing: If you KNOW you're going to be away for an extended period of time, and you KNOW you're going to come back after that period of time, then you can put your character(s) in a vacation mode that prevents you from logging in for a certain minumum (IE: 1 week) and say for up to 3 months you can opt to have yourcharacter in this vacation mode and noting the character has on will decay in that time, and if you need an extention for whatever reason, you can talk to the admins about getting one.
Just something to think about.

The idea sounds nice, but there's a very good reason behind items decaying.
Right? >.>
Right? >.>

the idea has been brought up before, IIRC items decay in order to not overload the server with things, not sure if that was the exact reason but something similar, either way it was turned down in the past.
EDIT: meh never mind I'll just leave everything in lower case and use a run-on sentence to annoy nejii and aiakon.
EDIT2: you could just put your items in a shop, or a safe (halves decay time I think)

If this were to be done, one nice way would be to allow artisans to make a "keepsake chest". You can put stuff into it but once you close it you can't open it for a minimum of, say, two game-years. Things inside it wouldn't decay. Once it was opened, it would lose its magic and revert to an ordinary chest.

The obvious solution here is: Don't ever leave Lusternia. We rock!

While I agree, there are times that can't be avoided when I have to step away. School is one of them.

You just want our souls. :/

At least they don't want more.

So, what I've got from this thread is that Lord Charune wants to lock our souls into chests so that they don't decay? Am I right?

They also want our money! For credits and things...

Once my mandolin decays (last time it was at 5 months), I don't have the money for a new one, and returning to full activity becomes a lot harder for me, because even my weeviling at that point is going to suck.
Gwylifar2007-02-27 15:29:53
You didn't bond with it?
Sylphas2007-02-27 15:35:36
I can't bond with it, I only have 54% aptitude with it.
Unknown2007-02-27 17:29:06
There are ways in game to mend items, half decay rates, and cut them completely. Yes, I know it's annoying, I've just recentally come back to about four vials, and a thousand or so gold to my name on Zenji, with about 60-70k of other stuff decayed on me(still have my books umm, ya!?)
The alternative to making it easy for anyone to stop decay rates is worse though, and people, myself included, already complain about lag from time to time.

Probably too late now, then. At least there was a way to avoid this forever for you, even if you didn't use it in time.
Sylphas2007-02-27 20:19:53
Aptitude isn't too horrid to get if you're active, but if you're semi-active you're never going to bond an instrument.
Unknown2007-02-27 20:29:29
I got mine to 100%... And then I realised that, having gone rogue by then, I had no power to bond with it. It's probably decayed now.

I think Bob sells crappy instruments cheap. Just use one of those until you can afford a better one.
Vix2007-02-28 02:02:36
Even if you do bond with it you have to play it every day to keep its months up so it won't decay. Bonded instruments still decay, annoyingly enough.

This is obviously a conspiracy to make us all get nekkid.
