A matter of faith

I think it was Aetolia that ran a contest similar to this a few years back, and I remember really loving the process. Basically, the head god announced a contest for all the members of Divine Orders, asking each to construct/perform/whatever one thing they felt truly captured the essence of their devotion to their Divine. Some committee was assembled to judge the entries, and the winning Order received some nice prize (it could be a few free rooms added to the temple, or a huge boost in essence for the god in question, or some such).

I think that would be a really fun (not really conflict oriented, as each Order should strive to complete their own task rather than sabotage others'), engaging, RP-ful challenge for much of the playerbase - if it works well, it could even be held every 10 IG years or something. To get more people involved, we could allow Outer Circles as well as Order propers to participate, or even just anyone who has declared an interest in a particular Divinity.

Interest?

Ooo, I should try to get involved in an Order, maybe Terentia's, but I think she was too busy laughing at my dying reptitively to Magnagoran guards like a bumbling fool first time she noticed me. I admit it's become rather comical how much pain getting enemied to Magnagora has caused me. I have this ridiculously bad habit of accidently going the wrong direction at a bad time or going too far southeast or northeast. wub.gif

As a note, Mag's don't think much of it if you see it happening on deathsight really, I screw up and ram into your marshalls from time to time, I'll eventually learn better. But I'm seriously not attempting to do anything nore am I capable of it. I seem to get a lot of people rather confused by it. Just don't want the players to think it's more then it is, and that's me being a goof.

And I really like this idea too, sorry to get kind of off subject, it's just all inter related somehow o.O

As a personal view I don't think how talented you are at something really determines how faithful you are to your divine unsure.gif, but it might be a fun little thing to see who can be more creative in their Patron's name.

I remember this event. It involved a lot of dying on my part as the gods waged war upon one another.

The whole thing was a set up anyway, Severn, Khepri and Niuri allied and simply smashed all the other gods, it had very little to do with follower devotion.

Hm. Is there a way to make it less of a competitive process, discouraging alliances but also discouraging sabotage?

I find it a very good idea. Something that gets the order together to do something useful focused on their Divine, helps raise a bit of debate on how people understands each Divine and it's fun RP wise.
