What are the peak times for people logging on to Lusternia? When do YOU most often visit the Basin?

(And if some sort of administratory person had some sort of fantabulous chart, that'd be FANTABULOUS!)

Yes, there is a selfish reason for this question...

... I want to know when there are least players online so I can FINALLY finish the Newton quests... bah humbug etc etc.

GMT preferred.

Well, I'm usually on between 2 and 6 in the morning, but i haven't had access to Newton in years
Shiri2007-03-04 02:04:39
There are the least players on from about 8 in the morning to about 11 in the morning. Since you're up at 2 in the morning you might have difficulty with that, but if you're Australian or Asian or something and just got up you'll be fine.
Arix2007-03-04 02:15:04
2 in the morning for me is about 9 in the morning for you, Shiri
Shiri2007-03-04 02:47:22
What's that got to do with anything? I was using GMT.
Richter2007-03-04 16:28:13
There's more American players than anything else, so once it's past midnight on the west coast here, you're probably good. Not converting 12am pst to gmt though. tongue.gif

Although you would think there were more british players, what with the whole "british" spelling thing.

I never understood why they do that. Especially when their main form of payment is in US$
Callia2007-03-04 17:19:30
It was also pointed they don't use all of the british spellings...

Because it's the 'correct' english. In europe at least you learn british english in schools too even though there are probably a lot more americans... and it's more likely for you to encounter american english than british.

Ever noticed that we call it 'English'?

Ever noticed that the crass variant spelt in the states is described as US English or American English? That's because it's not proper!
Hazar2007-03-04 18:15:21
Yes, but HTML coding uses american spellings, as does most of the internet.

The idea of any form of a language being 'correct' is a fallacious meme mostly spread to justify funding for the Academie Francaise.

Language is as language does. Period.

Indeed. And in England, period = menstruation. Just so you know.

For all you americans out there:

1. You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then look up "aluminium." Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it.

The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'favour' and 'neighbour'; skipping the letter 'U' is nothing more than laziness on your part. Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters.

You will end your love affair with the letter 'Z' (pronounced 'zed' not 'zee') and the suffix "ize" will be replaced by the suffix "ise."

You will learn that the suffix 'burgh' is pronounced 'burra' e.g. Edinburgh. You are welcome to re-spell Pittsburgh as 'Pittsberg' if you can't cope with correct pronunciation.

Generally, you should raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up “vocabulary." Using the same thirty seven words interspersed with filler noises such as "uhh", "like", and "you know" is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication.

Look up "interspersed."
There will be no more 'bleeps' in the Jerry Springer show. If you're not old enough to cope with bad language then you shouldn't have chat shows. When you learn to develop your vocabulary, then you won't have to use bad language as often.

2. There is no such thing as "US English." We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of "-ize."

Do you see the rather substantial difference in number and severity of changes? To all you English purists: you're welcome. We freely invite you to learn the English spoken by English's great writers.

Language evolves and changes. No one is contesting that. However, without a doubt, our version is better than yours.

Insofar as...it uses more irregular verbs? More spellings that do not match their pronunciations? Or that it's spoken by the people on that island with awful weather that managed to squander the world's most powerful military and get routed by a rag-tag assortment of underequipped farmers and merchants allied with the French and got summarily expelled from the nation that speaks the dialect that's slowly replacing your own, even in your own country?

No, dear Xavius. Only in so far as it is better than the vulgar whinnyings you are proud to call your own.
