Okay, so I had some discussion with a friend on MSN on which Comicbook-company is better, or, which one we like more.
Well, my oppinion is that DC/Vertigo beats Marvel by far.
DC is the one selling comics to every age, with peeps like Batman, Superman, Teen Titans, Wonder Woman and all those. I have my favorites there, like the Shadowpact (one of the newest groups) and the Teen Titans. Both are pretty funny. Overall, I think DCs Universe has a much wider variety of Superheroes and characters to choose from, and cameo appereances and all that are pretty common, I really like that.
Vertigo is the branch for Mature Readers, they have things like Y - The last Man, Lucifer, Sandman, Eden - The lost world and Hellblazer (which the Constantine movie was based off, but only loosely) I really prefer Vertigo to DC, simply because the comics are far darker and somehow more "realistic". My favourite there is Hellblazer, Constantine is just such a loveable bastard.
Well, and then we have Marvel. Some Mutants moping about being hated. Ta.
Well, what's your oppinion? I bet I am not the only one who's a bit nerdy with comics.

I've always found DC comics to be uninteresting. The superheroes are almost all alike, and they're pretty boring. For any age.
Marvel's got a good amount of humour in it though, and awesome characters the reader can connect with. Marvel also touches different age groups, with X-MEN and Spiderman geared for younger audiences, with Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Daredevil...for older peeps.

I admit that in the DC universe, every superhero has like, at least two sidekicks.
Buuut, there are a lot of guys who are very non-mainstream, too. I mean, you should check out a Hellblazer issue or even Sandman.
Okay, Marvel had a lot of advertising in the last few years, with all the movies and all, but hmm...

Well, there you can basically check out some issues. You got to read the dry Jokes of Constantine yourself, or check out the weirdness of Sandman. Y - The last Man always gets a laugh as well.
I read a few Marvels, sure. Ghost Rider isn't bad buut...well, for example, where Marvel has the Thing, DC has the Swamp Thing, which like, beats the heck out of the Thing.
DC and, subsequently Vertigo, are more into Superthings/Magic, I just like that more than the explanations of Marvel. Mutant Gene or just some Superhyper armour just doesn't do it for me.

Marvel. Take every other hero away and leave only Spider-man. Take everything in Spider-man away and leave only the "With great power comes great responsibility" theme. That's still better than anything DC can offer.

I am not as knowledgeable on the field of americ... ANY comics as I want to be (a common theme in my Lore: Geekdom skill ), however from what I've read to this day, I liked DC better. Close call though.
EDIT: Hate the smilie.

I haven't really read any of this stuff except the Sandman, but I liked that. *votes!*

DC superheroes lose pretty badly to Marvel.
Vertigo may as well be a whole seperate thing. Vertigo owns. Just Sandman can take down most of Marvel, and you've got things like Y to back it up.

I like Batman, and it has always been so. Also, the Joker is my favorite villain, especially after I saw the first movie when it came out on video long ago. Jack Nicholson ftw
EDIT: Actually, Batman is the only DC character I regularly keep up with. I also like X-men, to some extent, and I find the Marvel Ultimate series to be fascinating

Yes.

Vertigo was a good move by DC, I like the Vertigo stuff. I can't stand most DC comics. But a choice between DC/Vertigo or Marvel I would have to go Marvel, DC just does too much generic rubbish like Batman and Superman.
Verithrax2007-03-12 15:49:10
Marvel, definitely. The only interesting character DC has is Batman.
Daganev2007-03-12 15:53:55
I vote for whichever team Stan Lee is on because of that -TERRIBLE- scifi channel show "Who wants to be a superhero" which was just TERRIBLE!

Yeah, I am more Vertigo myself, but just gotta stick up for DC, them being like the Mothercompany and all, you know.
But I really can only recommend Hellblazer. The main char has such a great dry humor, and all the stories are really cool in a whacky sort of way. Also Y - the last Man and Eden - The last world are really great too. Eden is more Manga-like, but it lost some of its charme lately. Gets weirded. Y retains its fresh humor, though.
EDIT: And Stan Lee is Marvel. Eww, Marvel.

Marvel trumps the Swamp Thing with The It.

I love them both. I'm tempted to lean towards Y for being more creative and not ganking a bunch of faerie tales, but I like the faerie tales, and they've done it well.
Instead, I'll bring up The Walking Dead. Excellent series.

I take the Walking Dead and raise you a Hellblazer.
