A guy came to my apartment and said, are you Mel? And I'm like yeah. Here, this is for you.
He hands me a largish packed that is very squishy with bubble wrap.
I close the door, proceed to sit down and tear open the package with much chaos.
OMG...
This is most likely the prettiest guide I've ever seen. It is the Collecter's Edition of Prima's Zelda:Twilight Princess guide (only 10,000 made).
The book is HARD COVERED, the edges of the page lined with GOLD GILT. It is BEAUTIFUL. And I can't even look inside it until I've beaten the game :/
Just look at this cover...So beautiful...

Don't sleep ever again for fear of it being stolen. Allow the guide to consume your soul
Kharaen2007-03-12 22:06:23
Not like I can sleep anyways, up all night coughing >.>

Wow, a guide that is more pretty than the game... how nice
Kharaen2007-03-12 23:57:43
From the book that comes with the game, I can see the game was nicely rendered as well. Still waiting on my Wii though, might be a couple weeks :/
But the guide is VERY pretty

Pretty sweet. But my Zelda hat and sweatshirt win.
Ixion2007-03-13 11:53:32
The shirt and hat might win, but you lose if you ever wear Zelda attire.

I'm half tempted to get the sword and shield mini replicas. That would trump those in a heartbeat.
Unknown2007-03-13 21:55:05
I know a guy that forged his own Hylian shield and is working on the Master Sword. That trumps t-shirts and replicas.
Ixion2007-03-13 22:09:52
That's so cool that I can't even call it nerdy.
If you forge you own stuff with no help that's just badass.

Nerra2007-03-14 04:55:41
Disagree. I'd forge something none-video gamish... and none japanese
Drathys2007-03-14 06:01:06
I'd forge art or something but I might get arrested. --Ba-dum chh--
Aison2007-03-14 07:19:57
You will burn in hell for that pun. I still laughed.
And I'm with Ixion. Forging anything, especially your own Master Sword and Shield... just makes you a badass.

It is pretty.
If I may be permitted a slight threadjack onto the topic of books which qualify as beautiful objects more generally, I would like to put in a word for Nobilis, by R. Sean Borgstrom. Cover.
It is gorgeous. Some of the art samples: Dragon, Honesty, Greed, Tree Sprite.
Or consider two of the sample chapters released by the publisher to see how the typeface and layout look: Introduction, Sample of Play (pdfs, both).
To go one step further, I have always intended to acquire a reproduction Kelmscott Chaucer. Link, more.
Simply beautiful, and, short of stealing the Book of Kells, perhaps the most beautiful book one can hope to obtain.
Both make excellent reading, as well. Few books these days - art books aside, for obvious reasons - are treated as much more than recepticles for information. And while I'd sooner have good writing on shoddy paper than the reverse, that does not keep me from being grateful for those occasions when writer, printer, and artist collaborate to produce a work of beauty.
