ab forging redistribute
Syntax: REDISTRIBUTE to
---Must be done at a lit forge---
Power: 20 reserves
Whispering ancient words of power to the weapon, you force it to slightly change its shape. This power enables you to redistribute up to 10 statpoints per weapon. Seeing as this is not kind to the materials of the weapon, it also costs 10 months of the usefulness of the weapon per redistributed point.
Comments!
EDIT: Obviously, this wouldn't get the weapon over the cap.

Yes.

I spent hours forging my weapons. I don't want some guildhopping newb getting better ones through some ridiculous skill change.
Veto.

Seems I misswrote my idea. Coughcough.
EDIT: Anyway, your argument is that, speaking metaphorically, you had a shitty life, everyone else should have one as well. Wich ain't quite social.

I think weapons just need to be either shorter to forge or always lean towards one stat. For example, rapiers should always be between 250 and 280 speed. After well over a dozen reforges, I only came up with two rapiers over 260. I don't have a hammer, and have better things to do then sit at a forge for hours and hours.

That's supposed to make you wish you had a Hammer. Hammers cost credits. Credits bought OOC let the game stay "free".

This idea strikes me as incredibly problematic. Grab some high-prec katana and turn it into a brutal killing machine. Even ignoring issues with stat conversions, a point of precision is not worth the same as a point of speed is not worth the same as a point of damage, especially when you can create stat proportions that were never meant to exist.
Ashteru2007-03-24 21:52:37
Well, as I said, they wouldn't go over the cap for each sword, so I don't think that would be THAT problematic. And generally, after a while you can get everything you want, I got the weirdest combinations since I started forging yesterday. It really would just shorten the forging process a bit, making it less hard on the forger.

According to Roark, there aren't caps for each weapon type, only the universal caps, so yeah, if you were really in a mood, you could have a max damage, max speed sword with crap prec.
Ashteru2007-03-24 22:20:17
Meh, I just think it would be cool to not have to forge for days on end to get certain stats you want. ~_~
Xavius2007-03-24 22:22:31
My li'l alt is forging as we speak. Hush, you.
It is a two-handed weapon.
Damage: 250 Precision: 428 Speed: 198
A darkened greataxe of precious metal has no poisons or magical effects on it.
We're getting closer!

I got exactly one flail that was anywhere near where I wanted in the last....12 hours. And it was 10 points too low on damage, meh.
Well, what about being able to forge for a certain stat, raising the chances to get that stat higher than usual.

Yes, I understand that. But as Ashteru was getting at, there is just too much time that needs to be invested in forging, even with a hammer. Warriors, the only class in Lusternia that has stat weapons to affect output, is also the only class that needs to spend several hours of mindless forging to create those weapons. There should definitely be either less time involved in forging or being able to go for specific stats. FORGE

Try several days. I have been reforging this one morningstar for the better part of a week.

Damage: 102 Precision: 235 Speed: 143

Cheap cheap.

No other tradeskill has to spend a ridiculous amount of time (days upon days) to get desired results. Forging has always kind of sucked, in all IRE games, because of the terrible time investment, and customers not wanting to pay for that time (minus the few newbs that walk in and toss credits around).

False.

I've seen 180/x/180 one-handed weapons, is this not max damage, max speed for broadies/flails?
And on a side note, I consider my ability to have full plate with weapon and armor runes well worth the credit investment.

max speed on flails is far higher. Check the weaponstats thread.

Did you read the thread or the post? I'm inclined to believe the latter. Try again.
