Those of you in need of a free powerful mud client are in luck now Nick, the programmer for Mushclient, has made it freeware and will be opening up the source for it too.

YESSSSS I don't have to feel bad about cracking it! WOOO!

I don't know what it is exactly but I'm always more inclined to send money to freeware organizations, than to register shareware. I've just been ignoring the nag screens, but now I'll in all likelihood float $20 Nick's way.

Even though this means I can't scold people for not registering their MUSHclient any more, it doesn't mean that what you did was justified. tongue.gif

In fact, as Nick pointed out that he estimates about 1% of MUSHclient users were paying users, you might say that this is what pushed him to virtually give up on the client. We'll have to see how it does as an open source system. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the code, even if just to add a few pretty buttons for my own special system.

I could think of a fair few, but it's definitely not an easy business to keep going if you do manage to get off the ground with it.

And I deserve the scolding, but I only recently cracked it after dealing with the load screen for upwards of 2 years... I didn't feel justified, I just felt ok because I knew that I couldn't afford to register it and this point, all expenses thought of, and was tired of waiting.

The next problem is getting it to be on all of the registries in the different computers here at school, because it turns out the registry doesn't connect over all the computers, just the ones that I register on.

I've dealt with the nag screen for 3 years now, and I agree, I plan on sending Nick some money myself now that it's free. biggrin.gif

I always meant to get mine registered once I had money for it, but in the two years I've been playing IRE MUDs, I haven't had enough money for credits, let alone MUSH.

I will send him some to keep supporting it, once I get some money. It's an amazing client.
