"the Dance" of the Shojo Anime, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"



.... I watched this on the School's anime club and now they are thinking we should learn the steps and perform it...

The part that has me confused is how, exactly, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi qualifies as shoujo anime.

It's a classifed as a shounen, but I think it qualifies for both categories.

I find it hard to believe that it's a Shojo... yeah, it contains some shonen aspects, but I say it's more Shojo than anything else...

No, it's Shoujo and Shounen, unless you have that little mark over the "o".

If you want precision, it is 少女　（しょうじょ）　and 少年　（しょうねん）. Shoujo and shounen are used as alternatives to shōjo and shōnen. It's a matter of conveying vowel length.

As for where to classify it, it worth remembering that the manga was serialized in... Shounen Ace. I would accept arguments that it is properly classified as seinen, but one thing it is not is shoujo.
