Riding is a bit overdue for a rework to fit in with Lusternia's combat system.
So - here are a few of my ideas on it, in rough order as to when they would be put in the skillset. Please, add more as they occur to you.
FirmSeat - Gives a chance to resist proning/dismounting in exchange for a short loss of balance as you concentrate on staying in the saddle. The chance varies with the rider's skill in riding.
Rear - Cause the steed to rear up and strike at a nonmounted foe with its hooves. Chance to stun and prone, like headslam; blocked by shield, timeslip. Chance to avoid by stancing head. Rebounding flips the horse over backward and tosses the rider off.
Charging - Just like athletics charging, but a) requires that a lance be wielded impales as well as proning and stunning and c) does not prone the rider, for obvious reasons, though it does take a long balance. Can be stopped by a shield, timeslip, or parrying gut; stancing gut has chance to avoid. Simply gallops by if it doesn't succeed, and can be followed by pacing or cavalry.
I would like to borrow Daevos' idea of making the steed/rider relationship more like a falcon/owner one, and would be glad of a limited number of mount oriented emotes. (Currying, patting, inspecting hooves, dressage... Estarra liked that video, right?)
I would also like to borrow his idea about capturing and training them - here's the whole topic.
Combatwise, let the steeds have an attack tick perhaps half that of a pet? Something noticeable, but in no way overpowering.
For druids... giant squirrels? Or, at any rate, some steed which enjoys trees.

More mount options in general would be massively appreciated.
After looking at a few of those links and seeing the Taming skill Imperian has I'm pretty jealous. I want something like that.

also the only useful skill is trample. But you cannot tumble if you're mounted which I think is lame. not sure if this is a bug or not but if it isn't you shoudl be able to tumble off a mount otherwise why even bother on the offchance that you can trample someone when you lose one of the best escape abilities.
I wish joust actually impaled people. I tested and you can't even joust someone unmounted. When you joust someone mounted it does no damage, but can afflict with poison and it prones them with no balance lost or anything. Jousting is useless anyways because mages both get legendary mounts.

Mages/Druids already have mounts, for Mages it's the Dragon Turtle and Wyrms, for Druids it's the Totemic Stags and Crows. Each has their own special ability.
Otherwise, creating a few neat abilities for Riding wouldn't be that bad.
