Okay, so I recently came into some money as I've actually started working at a job. Now, I want to buy a credits package but don't have a credit card so I'm reliant on other means of paying. This brings up a few questions for me especially since this is my first credit purchase.
What's the next easiest way to obtain credits?
Does someone know how the online banking bill payment way is supposed to work?
What's the next fastest way to obtain credits?
How does an e-check work, if that's a viable way to do this?
Now, I was in the middle of writing a letter to support when I decided to make this topic so I know that's an option for me to go ask questions. It's just a...very incoherent series of babbling questions that I wouldn't want to make anyone suffer and it was suggested I ask all you opinionated people first because of that. So all help is appreciated!

Email Estarra. She'll have far, far more experience with different payment methods than anyone you might find in forumland.
A debit card is listed as an option alongside a credit card, if you have one of those. And you have a bank account, apparently, so you might well have a debit card.
Otherwise - thanks for funding this place. It's fun.

You can also buy those prepaid Visas at alot of grocery stores, with like 100.00 on them which would work. But a debit card with a Visa logo works too. Other than that alot of people do money orders or cashier checks.. But that takes so long

As I said before, I made an attempt to write support which turned into a mass that no living thing deserved to read. I live in Canada so I'm not sure if the stores around where I live sell prepaid Visas or if I'd have the time to go buy one. I currently live either at my job or at home and don't do much besides that as I have no time to. I'd also prefer not to have to mail anything anywhere as I'm horrible enough with stuff like that which doesn't involve sending money.

Well, whatever you do, do not just print an order and mail it with your cash money tightly enclosed within a few papers, it never arrives at IRE. I lost 70 dollars. Aaand since I am seventeen, I cannot really use a debit card. No more credit ordering for me it seems.

I was able to use my debit card by paying with the Interac service (it's a Canadian system, so as long as you use a bank like RBC, CIBC, it should work. I used RBC anyway). You basically make a payment to them through your on-line banking account (if you have an on-line account) and they make the payment to IRE. But... the service charge is pretty high, so I only recommend it as a last resort.
The IRE website explains/links to the different ways of making a payment (including the above), it's somewhere on their credit help page.

I use BMO so I hope it's still possible to do the online banking. That seems like the best way for me so far since I'm impatient and don't really know how to use the e-check option. I checked that FAQ and it kinda just made me a little more confused as it added options I didn't know of.

It's just a sign that you're not really supposed to buy credits. You already passed me in level, you have to leave me something!
Guess I'm going to have to get more credits now too...
EDIT: On-topic, I would check on the e-check option. I haven't tried it with IRE, but it's basically what most people do with your checks now. I imagine you would just have to input your check #, account #, routing #, all that good stuff. IRE would then electronically file the check, just like you had written it to them. It works out essentially the same way as wrigin a check, assuming it's similar to the other e-check systems I've seen.

Really? I'm seventeen and I have my own debit card under my name. I have my own personal balance as well. You just need your parents to sign some special waiver or something, depending on the bank.
Diamondais2007-04-06 03:13:27
Sarra, you can get your own debit card at 17. I had mine at 15. Just get your parents to go with you to your bank and it should be fine.

NEVER SEND CASH IN THE MAIL
Vix2007-04-06 03:38:35
Yeah, most definitely: do not mail cash. (Ha, I had to delete most of my sentence, but now you can't add that into your stupid signature!)
Sarrasri2007-04-06 04:37:31
I have a debit card...it doesn't have a visa or mastercard symbol thingy on it so I didn't think it could be used to get credits through debit card.
And stop trying Derian. We both know I'm the cooler one and deserve to be better than you.

LISTEN TO THE CRAZY MAN.
It seems simple and foolish in retrospect, but I lost money. Real money that could've otherwise went towards pr0n. Woe!

Well, I have a debit card to be ecxact. But purchasing credits from a company overseas and me being from a small town in Finland isn't quite that easy with the different currencies and all. How would you purchase with a debit card, can someone please explain to me, step by step?
Korben2007-04-06 12:04:23
If you live with your parents there's always the option to ask them to purchase the credits on their credit card and then reimbursing them.
Saaga2007-04-06 12:08:50
Mother doesn't trust companies abroad, unfortunately. Aye, perhaps unreasonable but she refuses to.
Ashteru2007-04-06 12:23:06
I buy my credits really simple. On the website for credits, there's the additional option "Other Payment types".
There are then about 12 to 15 other ways to get your credits. I usually go with Bank transfer, which locates a bank in your own country which you then send your own currency too, per online banking. Reeeally easy. Usually takes 5 days to a week, but you can wait.

Okay! Well, I went to the other payment types and found I could do an email money transfer with paybycash. Not as fast credit cards but it's simple enough! And no sending money through the mail. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Get a credit card. They're useful. If you have a job and haven't done anything extremely stupid financially lately, it shouldn't be a problem.
