Hi everyone!
I just returned to the game recently and boy, have some things changed. I'm pretty happy that a few things that I remember are still the same, though. I'm glad that most of my favorite people are still in Glomdoring and the Shadowdancers are still a great guild to play in. When I first heard that Bards were introduced, I was tempted to switch. I'm glad I didn't .
Anyway, back to the purpose of this post. If someone would mind explaining a few things to me, that would be awesome. Either that or linking me to another forum post that explains it would be cool. I've done a few searches, but I'm not really getting much.
What's with aethercraft, ships, etc? I found an earlier thread and some files from the helps, but I'm still sorta confused. Is the only way to explore the aether is with a ship? I learned up to Transverse, or whatever, thinking the ship was something I can just buy. Oh well, I'll use the skillset eventually.
Speaking of ships, you basically turn your manse into a ship, right? So you have buy a manse, then turn it into a ship. Can my manse be a shop and a ship at the same time? Is is still even a manse at all? I may be remembering manses wrong, though.
It seems that we can learn all the common skills, too. Is there a limit on how far we can learn in each or I can transcend all of them if I want?
What is the percentage of getting a powerstone when gemcutting? I cut about 100 gems yesterday and didn't get a single one. While on the subject of jewelry, what is the newest skill? I read somewhere that all of the trades received a new skill that had something to do with constructs and such.
Are those miniature battles still popular? I stopped playing soon after they were introduced and everyone was playing with little mini versions of themselves. Was that just something that was new and exciting at the moment, but died down when the next new thing came out?
If a trademaster submits a design, what's the average turn around time for approvals?
Anything else that I should know that I've missed?
Oh yea, is anyone selling a manse? This should be in Last Chance, but since I'm here I might as well ask. I'm pricing some out right now and if the price is right I just might bite. I'll pay gold and maybe credits.

You'll need to learn the common skill aethercraft to use a ship, and to use a ship to explore aetherspace.

A manse can be both a shop and a ship, and it's still a manse.

Transcend them all, if you want.

You can make gears that make constructs faster. Ab jewelry constructs, I believe.

who exactly are you IC?
Things you may have missed, in no special order:
-Soll Ascended to divinity and became Ayridion
-Glomdoring finally got a village, though that didn't last too long
-Arix created a recipe for Merian Fishcakes that Zalana is now addicted to
-Nexus Worlds opened, and there was a big event involving the verses of Magnora, which I'll leave to someone else to explain
-Ashteru guildhopped several times
-Arix also guildhopped several times, but didn't draw as much attention to it
-Astral makes you crazy now
-Lacostian and Elcyrion merged to created Mecha-Gawd (also known as Elostian)
-Morgfyre showed up and ate Hajamin
-We had a god named Lyreth who seems to have disappeared into the depths of obscurity
-we have a new herb called earwort, which takes over the hearing portion of faeleaf, which now only gives truesight
there's probably more, but I'll leave that to others

These two events are related.
See this short flash clip to elucidate it. Fain is Weebl, Lyreth is Bob and Morgfyre appears at the end.

Hey everyone, thanks for the answers. Especially about the jewelry skill. I'm sort of disappointed I didn't get the skill yet and I'm at Fabled. Man, it takes a lot of lessons to transcend! I bought a bunch and thought I was doing something, but didn't even make a dent in it.
Anyway, I'm getting off-topic. Well, I play Nievea, an unknown and very important character. That's why I never mention my character's name on the forums.

Hey, I see Nievea all the time! Join the Harbingers, we're nearly as awesome as the Shadowdancers, just with less people.
Welcome back
Welcome back

Arel, stay away from my guildmates.
*hiss*

Shayle, I challenge you to a duel. Winner gets half of the loser's guildmembers, rounded down to a whole number.

Wow. That sounds remarkably NOT FAIR.
(But you're on--choke FTW)
Arel2007-04-09 03:10:36
Fear my Song, Shayle. It will do all kinds of horrible, yet non-effective things to you, while I futilely try to stop you from mass consuming earwort.
