Kharaen is a character who has plenty of slaves and servants who are more then happy to slave about for the gold she tosses their way. I'd frankly rather see her wielding whips then rapier, even if they are really nice rapiers, so I invented a skillset for it. It took me all day!

Tried to think of the kind of damage whips would do...decided it was mostly flaying and musculature damage, with entanglement thrown in due to the nature of whips.

To effectively fight a WhipMistress, you'd need to bring fist sigils to the fight, as well as mending, regeneration, antidote, kombu, though most afflictions are marjoram and coltsfoot based. There is also writhing when fighting a WhipMistress.

For all those S&M folks out there...and you are out there..!

CODE
Whipmistress weapon specialization
----------------------------------
- Whips are 1-handed weapons.
  o Bullwhip          - Average
  0 Cat O' Nine Tails - Damage
  o Quirt             - Precision
  o Whip              - Speed

New afflictions (other then wounding afflictions):
--------------------------------------------------
- Twitching:
------------
* ON ARMS: Twitches passively causes the hand to open, releasing weapon/shield/whatever (fist

sigil to prevent item falling to the ground). If victim has grip up, would strip grip first
    before causing item to drop.
* ON LEGS: Sudden spasms in the leg causes the victim to fall prone. If sturdiness is up, strips

    sturdiness first.
* Eat marjoram to cure twitching in the arms or legs.

You have gained the following abilities in Whipmistress:
--------------------------------------------------------
Whipmistress     Mastery of one-handed whip weapons.
GrazeCheek       Minor cuts to the cheek.
TwistAnkle       Slash your whip around their ankle, and twist it visciously.
Maneuvers        Refine your attacks with more focus.
SliceBrow        Cruely snap your whip above their eyes, painfully stripping flesh from the brown
so that the blood will periodically fall into the victim's eyes, blinding them.
SnapWrist        Wrap your whip around their wrist, and tug sharply, quickly snapping
                 the small bones.
TickleRibs       Torture your victim by lightly striking them, severing muscles one at a time.
GrazedRibs       A harsher blow to the torso, grazing
Disarm           With a contemptuous flick of your whip, you remind the victim who's boss by
disarming them and leaving them defenseless. Muahahaha!
PummelGut        Using the handle of your whip, you drive it hard into the victim's gut, causing
                 severe internal damage.
StrangleThroat   Slowly crush the life out of your victim with a stranglehold on their throat.
Tangle           Tangle the victim's arm or leg with your whip.
RakeThigh        Rake the tip(s) of your whip accross the victim's thigh, stripping his/her skin
                 and rending muscle.
Snap             Cruelly snap your whip back from entanglement.
Feint            Trick your foe with a light primary attack, allowing your second attack to
                 effortlessly slip through their defenses!
FlayArm          A long slash accross the upper muscles of the arm, revealing muscle,
and causing the arm to twitch in sporadic spasms.
Choke            Wrap your whip around their throat, and tighten your hold to prevent
                 their breathing.
FlayLeg          A painful strip accross the calf reveals muscles, and causes periodic spasms.
RendGut          Deep, penetrating strikes into the gut, tearing away flesh and muscle causing
stomache fluids to mix with fatal dangers.
FlayChest        A long strike across the chest flays a strip free, revealing raw muscle

beneath that's extra sensitized to pain.
TearLimbs        Pull hard on your targets trapped limbs to break them bad!
SnapNeck         Entwine your whips around their neck, and twist to snap it.
Flog             Flog the flesh from their bones with a rapid succession of
                 skin-stripping strikes.

Twitching == no.

(I don't have the time to look at the rest of it, but we really don't need more "drop your weapons" skills.)
Verithrax2007-04-10 04:02:05
Denied, bad, wrong, doubleplusungood, hoping-this-is-a-delayed-april-first-joke bad idea.

It's amazing how quick people are to say you suck sad.gif
Ildaudid2007-04-10 04:32:18
What if a guy wants to have a whip sad.gif

Whipmistress, hmmm but no whip Master..... I call equality for Men with whips!

Is that a 12p skill at Trans?

I would encourage you, when looking at the skillset, to think up at least three paths to victory, including one lock path - slitlock, etc, and one wound path (behead, snapneck). Look for ways to stack afflictions against curing, and try to make sure that you would want to use every affliction, in some tactical situation.

As it is, the skillset described is somewhat similar to blademaster - it's hard thinking up wound afflictions that are different anyway.

Consider reworking it around proning and entangle. A trip afflict, for instance, or an entangle like thornlash/hound clamp. If you can trip with one whip, you can then do something else with the other. Might be too much, might not be too much if there's no way to slicetendon or otherwise keep them from standing up between attacks - if they weren't hit with mantakaya or calcise or similar.

Dual-wielding whips, though... hard for me to see it. Perhaps a whip and something else?

Otherwise - by all means, keep at it. I don't see a new warrior spec coming soon, but who knows what evil lurks in the mind of Estarra? And if they knew, who would dare tell? We do know she likes hitting people with pointy shoes, at least.
Ildaudid2007-04-10 04:39:33
Sabs get whips and dirks. Garrote and flay FTW.
Verithrax2007-04-10 04:59:03
Excuse me, didn't you hear the no? We already have furries. We don't need the BDSM crowd.

Still trying to figure out how that is meant to work, it could 10p plus 1% reserves maybe but still strange
Razenth2007-04-10 05:22:59
Maybe it's two power per strike and it just keeps going until it reaches six or you run out of power?

Have you seen Nifilhema? Nepthysia? Nymerya?

Why do their names always start with N?

Oooooor (random and unique idea) maybe it's a typo!
Kharaen2007-04-10 10:58:31
Meant to be 10p...After spending all day trying to figure out new afflictions, a typo or two is expected tongue.gif
Arkzrael2007-04-10 11:48:19
Kharaen, you're my new hero.

If we had this, I'd jump to Ebonguard so fast they wouldn't know what hit them. >.>
So awesome.
Ashteru2007-04-10 12:21:35
Noooo, don't give her a whip... shocked.gif
Unknown2007-04-10 15:18:43
No. sad.gif Don't turn the warrior guilds into writhing masses of BDSM freaks.
Kharaen2007-04-10 16:04:58
Using whips would just be a different way of fighting. And I see no reason why to deny warriors a chance of more popularity, especially if it steals it from the druids and mages and wiccans tongue.gif

Whips is a way of fighting through entanglement, I'll try working on it some more, Tangle probably isn't a good enough skill, but I tried to keep in mind that warrior combat is very random.

Tried to make skills that complemented FlayArms, and FlayLegs to make twitching stick (SnapWrist, TwistAnkle, RakeThigh, Rakearm), with entangling moves in as well (Tangle, Snap, Tearlimbs, Stranglethroat), with the goal to keep the target prone or defenseless for the Whipmistress/master to do their work.

Tangle can entangle either arms or legs, and if both arms or both legs are tangled, you can SNAPBACK (TearLimbs) to forcefully crack your whips back and free them, breaking both arms/legs in the process. Stranglethroat is like Tangle for the throat, causing passive asphixiation damage that gradually rises the longer the strangle is kept up. If both whips are strangling the victim's neck, maybe it could lead to SnapNeck. :ponder:

Two whips might seem odd, but I don't see whips as a two-handed weapon, so what else could it be...? Maybe a benefit to Whipmistresses/masters for wielding two different types of whips at once? (Cat O' Nine Tails and a Quirt?)

I'll try to think of ways to improve the skillset, thanks for the advice.

Change the Whip for Speed to "Razor Whip" or something similar.

But that sounds like a Pokemon move.
