It would be nice for races who regenerate health and mana in certain environments (Viscanti, Dracnari, Faeling, Lucidians, etc.) to regenerate ego as well. Unless I'm missing some important issue, it makes sense to me.

Ya, Faelings are already the best influencers out there, they don't need a lvl 2 ego regen on top of that.
