I am bored. And I want a nice discussion going on. So guys, I ask you, what's, in your oppinion, the best class to bash with?
Okay, so here's the one I think is best:
Mugwump Serenguard with Moon.
various athleticdefs buffing resistances and health, firstly. Additionally, surge is going to help a lot there, too. Moon is there for the main bashing attack, and the two damagereductions from Drawdown and Shine. You could basically ignore the weaponskillset completely with this class/racecombo.
Why? Okay, so as attack you get a (with knowledge blessing) 17 int moonburst, with level 3 equi. Additionally, you get the added health from weathering + surge, the damagereduction from field/fullplate, drawdown and shine.
Seems like a pretty nice combo to me.
Discuss!
EDIT: A bit calculating following:
Level 80 Mugwump with Weathering: 3260 health
Level 80 Mugwump with Weathering and Surge: 3260 + 1226 = 4486 health
Level 80 Mugwump with Weathering, Surge and Drawdown: 3260 + 1338 = 4598 health
Level 80 Mugwump with Weathering, Surge, Drawdown and Knowledge Blessing: 3260 + 1410 = 4670 health.
Quite nice, huh? All that coupled with 20% DR from Drawdown, whatever shine gives and a plate, seems like a pretty nice thing to use.

They made moonburst/nightkiss less effective for warriors by making you need to wield an athame for the full effect. At least I think so; they may just have gave more damage to wiccans on top of a normal moonburst/nightkiss.
Vix2007-04-08 19:33:27
Would it be possible to borrow a druid's sickle for that then (since they don't need it anymore)?
Ashteru2007-04-08 19:37:15
Think it just does 10% more than normal with the athama in the hand, heh.

it does only do 10% more damage, but i'v enoticed on mobs that it does significantly less meaning you need extra moonbursts to kill them without it. And yes to vix you can use a sickle.

I think a faeling ebonguard night, with high damage and high speed weapons is best.
Although in reality, a human is the best

How about ur'Guard aslaran with max speed rapiers?
I don't have figures, but lich+surge would be pretty nice. +2 str from lich, +2 from flex, +2 int from lich. That's 16 strength and 16 int (in the day). Decent weapon damage at insane speeds, but also critical hits at insane speeds.

Imperial Merian Telekinetic Aquamancer with throne - 18 cha for forcefield tankiness, 20 int with knowledge for nice damage.

It should be doing base damage (the same damage it did pre-Athame-change), with a +% bonus if holding an athame. Warriors shouldn't have lost anything from it, as I understood the change to be implemented.

I haven't found a difference in amount of hits required for mob kills with 360 damage and 150 damage.
Also, 19 to 20 strength made no difference.

Okay. The change came after Estarra expressed disapproval of warriors bashing with moonburst and nightkiss, so that threw me off.

I might as well add my own ego stroking:
My new Celestine Merian at level 10 does about 700 per Cosmicfire, with the same speed as Majanishi at level 50 with his speed hammers, which incidentally only do about 400 damage total... and that's before I've specialized and gained the Imperial Merian stat change. I think that when it goes up and when I'm around level 30 I may be doing over 1000 per hit, but I'll get back to you about that.
Of course, a lot of what has been mentioned is far more excellent, but at such a low level, one has to admit, that damage is pretty impressive.

What defs were used in the tests? What are the stats on his hammers? Why didn't you include wounds/afflictions/poisons in your analysis?
Tru stori: With 12 intelligence, seven elemental blasts kill a krokani guard. With 19 strength and 380 damage, nine claymore hits kill a krokani guard.
Whatever the case, we already know non-warriors are OP. >.> Nerf plz

(High level) Human anything. I win.
Theomar2007-04-09 01:24:02
For low-level bashing, it's all about the burst damage. Low-level warriors utterly fail at burst damage.
For high-level bashing, it's all about the criticals hits. High-level warriors utterly pwn at critical hits.

BMs and BCs, yes. PBs and ALs, I don't see how they have criticals any better than, say, a druid with a cudgel of the same level.
Theomar2007-04-09 01:35:23
They are still faster at hitting than other attacks, so theoretically they'll get more critical hits than someone with a slower attack. Theoretically, of course.

But they still need to do more attacks without criticals, sp no matter the multiplier of the critical, there are many times in which a non-warrior would have the advantage.
Meh, I'm just bitching, don't mind me. :P

You can use a Druid's Sickle just as a Druid can use a Wiccan's Athame.
