I think that a lowish level skill in combat that allowed us to focus on a single target would be highly highly HIGHLY awesome and make group combat possibly tolerable on the eyes.
It would work thusly:
COMBATFOCUS ON|OFF
You will only see messages directly involving either said person or yourself.
Example:
I'm in a room with Ixion, Murphy, Malicia, and Clise.
COMBAT FOCUS IXION ON
Let us say Malicia stabs Murphy. I won't see it because I'm focused on Ixion. However, I -would- see Murphy beating my face in with his hammers of doom. Further, I would see my own attempts at causing harm to Ixion, or if I so desired, my attacks on Murphy. I would also see Clise ordering her demon serpent-thing to follow me, because that's an action that involves me.

You be feeding her for the next 5 years. Get to work. *whiplash*
On the whole, might be nice for people who can't handle spam.

Could be useful, but it could also make you miss some vital information.
...Then again, spam can make you miss vital information, too. Pick your poison.

Hm.... I think making a script to echo any output with your target the color red, or pink (or whatever) would be a much more efficient solution
