Subj: Manse Dwellers

We're starting a new feature called Manse Dwellers which are very
similar to pets. You can purchase a dweller to reside in your manse.
However, the dweller can't be taken out of your manse and its purpose is
purely for roleplaying and atmosphere purposes. For more information,
see HELP MANSE DWELLERS.

Penned by My hand on the 25th of Estar, in the year 174 CE.

Highlights from the help file:
- Each dweller costs 250 credits.
- Dwellers can be made invincible and/or sentient for 100 credits, wandering for 75 credits, and can gain reactions for 15 credits.

EDIT: Hooray, an addition to the game that people have wanted for a long time! My only gripe is that they're kinda expensive, but then again, Lusternia is a business... I guess it's time to start entering in Artisanals and saving my credits!

Oh, and there's some errors in the copied help file. It still says "pet" a lot of times and mentions the dweller peeing on the leg of a worst enemy.

We DO have the d'Murani ship, you know - want to pay for a butler? biggrin.gif

Ships are for the middle classes.

I should be rich enough to have a mansion AND a ship.
Ixion2007-04-18 07:52:31
Ships that ARE mansions are the upper class. Ever see a pimp house floating on water? Same thing.
Kaalak2007-04-18 08:23:46
This is an awesome idea

I don't think you and I are working off quite the same definitions here.

I think you should be.
Aiakon2007-04-18 11:29:11
Noo.. I don't think so.

Loosely, I base Aiakon on European conventions of aristocracy. Americans don't really get this, because it's not in their culture - see the complete works of Henry James.

Loud ostentatious displays of wealth e.g "a pimp house floating on water", are vulgar. When you and your social circle are all fabulously wealthy, there is nothing to be gained by lavish displays, except their contempt. Instead, you show off in other ways.

Equally important is that you effortlessly gain wealth and never work for it. You should be living off your extensive estates. People who made their own money, whether by industry or trade, could never be accepted into the highest social circles. Earning money was vulgar.

In other words, Aiakon needs a huge manse in quasi-medieval style, unadulterated by the sci-fi concepts of the algotherine. Naturally he would have a ship or five as well... but he would never be so poor that he would need to convert his house into a vagabondish stagecoach.

I expected someone to IM me about this on MSN or something, but nooo, I had to log on myself yesterday, after not being on for three weeks, and find out myself.

Remember what happens when I leave? I quit, and they released manses. I quit, and we get bookshelves. I quit, we get aetherships.

I know your plan Estarra, and I like it.
Verithrax2007-04-20 04:52:14
Richter should quit more often.

I propose the creation of a crack team of griefers to ensure that is so.
Saran2007-04-20 14:26:03
I guess it's because they know how much money Richter has spent on lusternia and don't want to see him leave tongue.gif
Arel2007-04-20 14:28:55
IRE can actually run off Richter's money for about 3 more years without anyone else buying credits. Estarra sure knows how to keep funding going biggrin.gif

Hrmph! I'd like to compare Reiha's manse-ship to Tzu-hsi's marble barge. But more efficient and much more pretty looking.

Sorry to step into this arguement...

Aiakon is right. It'd be better to have a manse -and- a ship. Manse = 350k. Ship = 600k. Both = 900k. Definitely a show of wealth to have both. (and this does not even include furniture, upgrades, etc.)

Overall, a cool idea. Not something I'm too keen on right this moment, but I'm sure people like Richter will enjoy this.

...I want a drop bear and hehe I have a manse and a ship yay me *claps*
