Here's a scene: Ixion and Ethelon kidnap me to limbo to pick me off alone, activated tripleflash so they can't hit me, did my usual handspring out trick and for around seven times I recieve this.
You expertly spring from your handstand to the north leaping over all obstacles
in your path.
You spring a trap!!
The ground suddenly falls away from beneath you and you go tumbling into a pit,
stand
unparry all
parry head 1
stance chest
*** YOU'VE FALLEN INTO A PIT!! ***
*** FLY -- GHOST -- FLIGHT -- STARLEAPER ***
*** CLIMB UP -- CLIMB UP -- CLIMB UP ***
landing painfully on the hard ground.
Ethelon said that traps were remade to prevent =any= form of escape, seems powerful enough now is it?
I heard from one that walking to where the pit trap is will spring the trap, while using a skill will activate dart traps. Any idea now how to get out of this mess?

It's possible to move rooms while in a pit in extreme circumstances., but I hear conglutination works well for your problem.
Dart traps were not used on you, either.

Dysolis2007-04-26 14:25:37
wait , you can move rooms in a pit?
Lysandus2007-04-26 14:27:45
after looking the logs and skills I have, I found that I contain a card very necessary for getting the hell out of that mess.
Ixion2007-04-26 14:35:54
Actually you have tons more ways to avoid being stuck/re-thrown into a pit than most. I really see no reason for you to be stuck in unless you have demesne stun or a shieldstun spammer on you.
While we're talking to a bard... the bard avoid skill is utterly insane.

Lysandus2007-04-26 14:39:58
20 seconds and 10 power is enough to avoid most (can't escape from telepathy and ents.) attacks.
Ildaudid2007-04-26 17:25:10
*** FLY -- GHOST -- FLIGHT -- STARLEAPER ***
Well, fly doesn't work, nor does starleaper anymore (thank god)... So those two methods of getting out of a pit is not a problem anymore.
If you want hard times, hit a pit in an aqua/geo demense and let the knockdowns hit you on a nice timer
You won't get out before someone kills you 90% of the time. It's not the pits fault, its the perfection of demense timing.

Isn't parry head 1 very little? parry head 100 seems a lot more effective...

Parries are organized in relational values. Meaning, if you parry head 1, and unparry everywhere else, it's essentially parrying head 100%.
Or parry head 2, parry gut 1, parry chest 1 translates to parry head 50%, gut 25%, and chest 25%.
Ashteru2007-04-26 19:33:22
Aah, interesting. Always found it weird when I read that.
Zacc2007-04-26 20:04:54
You can't fly out of a pit? Why not? I'd think a size 1 faeling would be able to zip out rather easily. Also, does simply entering the room trigger the trap? What about forms of levitation, no protection?
Forren2007-04-26 20:08:09
I might be missing something...
But can't you just... you know.. CLIMB UP?

Unknown2007-04-26 20:10:52
one trap per exit. So if you enter at that exit you trip the trap. I've seen some times when moonbeaming in, or transversing from another plane has tripped traps as well though. Levitation should prevent you from breaking legs when falling in.

Not really. Like Lysandus said, it's 10 power to avoid most attacks for about 20 seconds, and you still get hit by psionic stuff, ents, demesnes, and room effects. It's good but not utterly insane.
Ixion2007-04-26 22:56:08
Infinite warriors being useless is quite insane, hmph.
Ild speaks from experience, pits in demesne is absolutely brutal.
Zacc, if you want to use logic to argue that size small faelings should just be so small as to "zip" out, I counter that argument by the fact that they are more fragile. Being slammed into a pit isn't stubbing your toe, you realize.

Yeah, pits in a demesne is just absolutely brutal. Especially if a pureblade finds you, or anyone with something like Judgement.
Ridiculously hard to get out alive.

Thank goodness for levitation!

Actually, once you've sprung a pit trap it won't work again until the tracker re-conceals it. Until then, everyone can plainly (althought it doesn't show up when you actually look for it) that there is a huge hole there, and simply goes around/over it.
Just be glad there weren't any poison coated spikes at the bottom of that pit. Or worse, snakes. PH34R T3H SN4K3S

it is very easy to reconceal or re envenom a spike pit trap though. I have no problems doing so mid combat as long as I have balance/eq to do it
