Ok, so, I was asleep a half hour ago, which makes sense cause it was around 1:30am, when this really loud BOOM sound wakes me up. Now, you gotta understand, I'm a crazy heavy sleeper. I've been stepped on and it not woke me up before. Shortly after the BOOM was the sound of all the people in the bar across the street from my apartment screaming and hollaring. They were yelling things like "Don't go over there!" "Don't touch it!" "Leave it/them alone!" "It's going to explode!" "The fire's spreading!"
I was really curious and looked out the window and couldn't see anything but the people from the bar running back and forth like chickens with their heads cut off. Every now and then two or three would run up the street, then the rest would yell at them and they'd run back. Then a different set would go and so on.
Then the fire trucks, police and ambulances arrived and I got too curious to stay in my apartment and went out to see what the heck was going on. Turns out, somebody lost control of their car on a very curvy street half a block from where I live. The bar is facing that way and everyone in saw what happened, which was that the car buried it'self against an electrical pole. They had to have been flying too cause the pole sliced through the car all the way through the hood, the windshield and dashboarda nd up into the steering column. The fire was put out by the time I went over and they'd gotten one guy out onto a gurney and were revving up the Jaws of Life to get the other out.
That's when I decided to go... The cops didn't need to have to deal with one more in a crowd of folks and I hadn't even been a witness. They're all still out there right now. I hope both those folks wind up being ok, though from what I saw, the one trapped in the car was in baaaad shape. Plus I'm a little concerned that neither of the ambulances have left, sirens ablazing. Kind of makes me think there's no reason for them to hurry. Course, there's all sorts of mechanical noises going on so who knows.
I just felt like sharing. I'm going to try to go back to sleep now, I still feel a bit icky from my migrane earlier today and I've got work tomorrow.
