Alright, I'm writing a book for the IG library for Noola. The book is a scientific study type of thing, and I want to reference drawings and diagrams in it - however, since the books are obviously text only, putting the actual drawings and diagrams in the book is impossible. (Well there is that weird thing you can do with letters and numbers and punctuation, but I can't do that very well and even if I could, it wouldn't be nearly as detailed as what I want).

I'm planning on submitting the drawings and diagrams for this month's artisanal.

But my quesiton is, and really I think I know the answer, but I want to make sure I'm not leaving something out, can I reference drawings and diagrams that aren't actually in the book? I mean something like

"... as the diagram in fig.11b clearly indicates, the scales form an interlocking layer of protection."

Or should I just leave references to drawings and diagrams out completely? What do you all think?

Yeah, I don't see why not. I've seen more obscure stuff win something. I swear in one of my artisanal entries I'll draw up the Attai instruments, which is a similar concept to yours!

Well, the question was more about the book though. Would it be wierd to reference drawings and diagrams that aren't actually in the IG book?

I'll be submitting the drawings and diagrams either way. (Course, I'm gonna hope you're right and I'll win something! laugh.gif )

Well, if you are making a reference in the book about the drawings, like that "... as the diagram in fig.11b clearly indicates, the scales form an interlocking layer of protection," then the diagram DOES exist tongue.gif

Ok, good, so my thought that as long as I described the drawings and diagrams and didn't just say "See fig.11b." or something, it'd be ok is a correct one then?

Yup!

I heart me the ascii art.

Considering the title, this is the most appropriate place for my question.

Does anyone know under which topic/forum etc, is Soll's log of his Ascension? I recall an enormous post detailing the transformation from his perspective, but I can't remember the location or find it again. If you have it saved personally, that'd be just as wonderful.

The one time I was co-writing a book with diagrams in it, I sort of did something like...

There is a diagram here, sketched in rough white and white strokes:
-----------------------------
This creature is large and hairy. It has big claws and googly eyes.
-----------------------------

Up to you how to do it!

Here's the post with the text of the ascension event.

Oh crap, from HIS perspective--hang on...

http://forums.lusternia.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=378049

Not much difference...
