I've been wanting to get my own website going for some time now, as currently things keep messing up with my site that a friend of mine lets me have on her account, and I'm not really able to fix a lot of it.

Does anyone happen to know of any good hosts? I'm not looking for anything big, but something with decent size and bandwidth without costing me too much each month.

Thanks!

It really depends on your needs and price range. Some webhosting services are fine for files or static pages, but don't provide the services and support needed for dynamic webpages; most are only good for web hosting and won't let you run other services, as well.

My friend uses Godaddy.com for his business website in Japan.

If you just want basically a personal site with a blog and some static pages, WordPress hosts for free.

Has anyone used Freewebs.com? I set up an account with them, but can never get around to finally settingup my page. So, I'm not sure if I can recommend them or not. But, it seems like they don't have banners (yet!), and have a few nice features like a blog other such widgets.
